    Security lights

I used a Steinel nightmatic photocell after previous issues with cheaper versions off eBay. Lights on at dusk, turn off at 9:45pm and then back on at 4:15am until 8am The cheaper ones don’t have the timer adjustment and the others I tried were very hit and miss.

Removing shower cartridge from handle body

Not sure if it is me but the pictures are horribly grainy. The o-ring doesn’t appear in good shape. Can you try changing that first?

    Kitchen flooring qestion

I would imagine it depends on what you asked for and the size of the flooring purchased. Assume they will do the bare minimum and you won’t be disappointed

    Plumbing experience

This is a DIY forum so may be more fruitful to try local tradesmen in your area. I admire your approach but you may not be hitting your target audience on this forum.

Are B&Q kitchens really that bad?

I installed the off the shelf kitchen around 15 years ago. It was reasonable quality for flat place and lasted very well. I think any kitchen manufacturer gets mixed reviews. I have a Howdens kitchen in our new place and it is pretty good. Wouldn’t hurt to have a shop around this weekend to...

Building Regs problems - Roof Lights

Assuming BC wouldn’t be interested as it is now over 5 years since they were installed. I would give some thought to exits in the event of a fire if you are to be living there. The indemnity is only in the event BC decide to take legal action. After 5 years I don’t believe they can anyway

    Fraught in front pvc door

Pictures always help but adjusting the latch keep should allow the door to be held closer to the frame. Check the cam rollers then engage their keep and it should bring it in closer once the handle is lifted. If you have a day light gap at the top of the door that’s a different story

Reasonable price to replace ridge and hip tiles

For the South East I think that sounds reasonable

    rare and exotics

Would still treat it like any other aspiring business if you are looking to make money. Competitor analysis etc etc. Anyway I would be interested in a purchase if you do mail order? Assuming you aren’t in the Manchester area :-)

Three core cable now becomes four core???

My suggestion would be to move your thread to one of the Electrics forums.

    rare and exotics

I really like the idea, would start with what you have identified and see what response you get. This will hopefully give you something to build upon. How do you intend to market and sell them?

Cold bedrooms, condensation on curved ceilings.

Definitely recommend it. Big shout to Mfarrow for the suggestion on the diagonal cuts. This makes life so much easier and holds the insulation in place.

    Dishwasher install issue

Just t into the cold water feed so you the valve for the appliance. Leave a length of copper off the bottom of the flexi and connect to the valve. Y- piece was for demonstration. Obviously needs the push fit connections

    Dishwasher install issue

Yes mate, get a t-piece to tap into the cold water tap feed and then a Y piece for the drain. Size according to tap connections etc

Cold bedrooms, condensation on curved ceilings.

Just reporting back for anyone else that has similar issues, I used the Knauf dritherm glass wool boards ( 1200x46x75cm) from B&Q. Using the earlier advice I trimmed the full board to the width of the rafters and then cut the board in half. Next I cut one half diagonally in two. These were...
