    Is there anywhere inside the female fitting for a fibre or rubber washer to sit in. If not then get some liquid ptfe and leave it to go off with shower in correct position.

    I am pointing one of my houses at the moment and using 5 parts building sand,1 lime and 1 cement but mine is a stone house and yours may be brick and you won't need the lime. I am chopping out with a lump and chisel and mixing by hand in a wheelbarrow because it is a slow job so i don't mix too...

    Freezing lasts a while with microbore depending on where the blowtorch is. You could use compression or even pushfit.

    Do you only have one pipe to that rad ??? :shock: :shock: :shock: Twin entry rad valves are not used anymore and if that is what you have then change the pipework for 2 single valves. The rads from screwfix are fine for what you want. you will need to extend the flow & return after...

    The syphon is the big blue/white thing in the middle that the handle linkage is joined to. Inside is a large poly washer that needs replaceing...i cut my own from thick poly but they only cost pence.
