How best to fill these ceiling/freeze cracks (pics inc.)

Thanks Richard, advice is appreciated and apologies if I ask any daft questions. If I decide not to take everything back to brick/block and just go for a repair what is the best approach for patching up? I have checked the rest of the wall and all seems solid, I could open the cracks a bit...

How best to fill these ceiling/freeze cracks (pics inc.)

Thanks richard you have really cheered me up! I have tapped around the areas and there are some hollow spots, the house is old and has suffferd from movement but according to our surveyor it's longstanding. I was hoping to get away with something less radical than your fix. In one of the pics...

    Toilet waste collars

Can you get plastic pipe collars designed to clip over finished soil pipework entering the wall. I can only find some that fit smaller pipes such as 15 and 22 mm pipe. I am looking for something to fit around the waste pipe at the back of the loo where it enters the wall. The waste pipe goes...

BT master socket - extension - general problems - Help...

Thanks for the replies - had a BT engineer out the other day, very helpful and advised that I could do the job and save myself £165.00 for moving a master socket - don't think this is BT's policy but hey who cares. He cancelled my job/visit so no charge and also supplied me with a master socket...

Sorry for the longish post... My house is a 3 bed semi in a cul-de-sac with telegraph pole providing a line to my house at the eves. My line then drops down the front of the house and enters my downstairs front room. This is my master socket. It's a single white box with BT logo on front. I...

How to bend fixed copper radiator pipe / rad brackets - help

thanks, I have just swapped the brackets around but no joy. I had thought of channelling around each bracket but thought there may be an easier way. And yes I know what you mean the temptation is there to put more pressure on the pipe but I know this will break the joint or kink the pipe.

    Cracks, plaster skim and paint

I started in some rooms using, dare I say it, b&q value matt white. It's thin already but I thinned a little more for a mist coat - 2 coats followed by 2 coats of Crown matt (natural collection). The finish looks good. I have recently taken advice from here and used dulux trade that I found a...

    Cracks, plaster skim and paint

I have had a number of walls and ceilings skimmed over the past 2 years. The skim has covered old plaster that was past its best, plenty of lumps, bumps and cracks. In some areas plasterboard has been used then skimmed. My question is about cracks appearing in the new plaster. The cracks are at...

Laminate - sub flo and underlay advice

Thanks for this, I spoke to another fitter today who has suggested raising the level slightly in the original room by screeding. Is this possible on top of chipboard flooring? I am starting to get a bit worried now about the best approach. Can I not raise the level by putting fibre boards over...
