    Resealing leaking shower

So the fitter responded to my (long) message within a few minutes saying 'I will work some things out and get back to you'. Not really sure what that means but at least he's not denying it - and he was probably expecting me to flag all this up. An apology might have been nice but anyway...

    Resealing leaking shower

Thanks Jaimie, just sent him a polite but detailed whatsapp message outlining all of these concerns and saying I think it all needs starting from scratch, so we'll see what he says. I'd be willing to take a refund and start again with someone else too but I doubt he'd accept that! He actually...

    Resealing leaking shower

Yeah fair enough... I suppose it shows what little faith in him that I have to research all this myself (or just shows how neurotic I am). My main concern was whether the plasterboards had to be down to the floor due to the piping being in the way, but I'll just make sure he boards down to where...

    Resealing leaking shower

Ah yes I see - I think they did put new plasterboard on the right side too judging by this current pic (see attached) - that plasterboard seems to be what the tiles are attached to (and that plasterboard then sits on top of the tray, and the tray goes further back and is flush to the brown wall...

    Resealing leaking shower

Yes I will definitely be having a word with him tomorrow! Just want to be fully aware of the situation first and you've definitely helped me there :) So you say they should have run the board to the floor on the left and then fit square to the right hand wall - but would the wall on the right...

    Resealing leaking shower

Another thought... if the plasterboard does have to be flush with the tray, do I need a tray with an uplift rather than what he's given me? I've attached a pic of the type that it was installed previously (it's my neighbour's but pretty sure identical to my old setup)... the tray was quite a bit...

    Resealing leaking shower

Yes it looks like that's the issue. I suppose it's the fitter's problem but I'm just not sure what to tell him other than 'fix it'. What's the solution? To start again and this time don't sit the tray against the plasterboard on the right side, but rather bring the tray forward? But as you can...

    Resealing leaking shower

By width do you mean where it lifts up to where it meets the tiles? If so seems to be approx 30mm on both sides... or if you mean along the tiles until it meets the wall channels? That's about 730mm on one side and 740mm on the other (and the wall channel itself is about 30mm thick). Looking...

    Resealing leaking shower

Ok I think *maybe* I've found out a bit more. On the left side the shower tray is definitely butted up against wall studs. I assume they added plasterboard and then placed the tray under that, which is why I can touch the back edge of the tray on this side, and the plasterboard is on top...

    Resealing leaking shower

Thanks for your advice. I'm a little confused now as to what's been done as possibly the tray isn't against the studs after all (I am clueless about what's studs and what's plasterboard). On the side which seems to be too far back, underneath the tray is a brownish material which does go to the...

    Resealing leaking shower

Oh yeah, wouldn't surprise me. Well I guess my response would be 'my contract is with you so I'm not interested who's to blame. You can sue your sacked workers if you want but it's nothing to do with me.' :D

    Resealing leaking shower

I'm so naive lol, what does it usually mean when they say that?

    Resealing leaking shower

Just to back up what you've said - it looks like on one side they've fitted the tray onto the walls studs. Then done plasterboard and tiles, meaning too much of the tray is lost behind them, obviously leading to the enclosure not having enough space. He'll no doubt blame the two workmen he had...

    Resealing leaking shower

Maybe that's the reason for the leak too. Stretching the enclosure beyond its min adjustment... Thanks for your help Jaimie - you've really done me a favour spotting that.

    Resealing leaking shower

The specs for the shower enclosure say 770 - 790 mm adjustment. I've measured the sides of the trays to where they meet the tile; one side is 780cm and one is 760cm... so perhaps the latter is where the issue is.

    Resealing leaking shower

What you're saying makes sense... maybe they realised when fitting it that it wouldn't adjust any further and they tried to get away with doing it the way it's been done. I've checked and the tray is 800mm but about 4cm is behind the tiles and I don't know if that's too much and possibly the...

    Resealing leaking shower

He supplied and installed both the tray and enclosure. You're right it does look like there are sizing issues... as you say, the tray and enclosure are flush at the sides but as they curve at the front. the enclosure sticks out from the tray (although interestingly I've not encountered any leaks...

    Resealing leaking shower

Thanks I may politely ask him to look into that.. what exactly does the side glass bottom mean sorry? It is sealed vertically at the moment both inside and outside. Originally it was just inside.

    Resealing leaking shower

Thanks for replying. I've attached some photos. It's not all done yet since he still needs to fit the plastic part covering under the tray (but better without it for now anyway to see the leaks better) and the boxing to the sides needs redoing as well as that chunk on the right wall! Have...

    Resealing leaking shower

Hi all I've had a new shower fitted in my ensuite (complete job, new tray, tiles, enclosure etc) which leaks from both corners . My fitter came back twice to add more silicone and I expressed concern at the time that there was silicone on the inside of the enclosure where the wall channels meet...
