Should downstairs sockets be on the same ring as upstairs?

    The wires were separated.

Should downstairs sockets be on the same ring as upstairs?

To clear up a few things: 1: I turned the switch off at the fuse box. 2: I tested all wires with a multimeter, then a neon screwdriver. 3: Disconnected the socket, which had 2 live wires, 2 neutral wires and 2 twisted earth wires. 4: Turned supply back on 5: Completed the wallpaper...

    Installing TRV

I forgot to ask; is it possible to change the radiator valves without draining down the whole system? It's a combi-boiler system.

Should downstairs sockets be on the same ring as upstairs?

Thanks, I just disconnected the socket and noticed another set of wires. I reconnected everything after finishing and it was fine. Think the fridge was the only thing running downstairs at the time.

    Installing TRV

Can I just pick this and fit? I will be doing more redecorating so I may replace them room by room. There could be a problem with the bedroom radiator as it's covered by the curtains and I've read that this can affect the TRV valve.[/url]

Should downstairs sockets be on the same ring as upstairs?

I have been removing wallpaper with a steamer so have been disconnecting sockets/light switches in the room to avoid any electrical problems. When I disconnected one of the sockets I noticed that all the sockets upstairs went off. I just wanted to know if this is a normal/safe way of wiring a...

    Installing TRV

Hi, I'm just about to get a plasterer to do the back room so have drained and removed the radiator. Should I take this opportunity to install a TRV valve on the radiator? The thermostat is at the bottom of the stairs in the hallway, no radiators in the house have TRV valves installed.

    Water inlet to cistern leaking

I have installed the flexi hose now, it was pretty easy although I couldn't have done it without the help on here. I decided to stick with the current fill valve and just install the flexi hose, although I will get the fluidmaster fill valve should I need to replace one of them in the future...

    Water inlet to cistern leaking

Well I've had another full check. The leak is definitely not coming from the plastic thread. I wrapped some tissue around that and then some more underneath the nut. It was the lower piece of paper that got wet. Above is a picture of the flexi hose used for the toilet upstairs. I would like...

    Water inlet to cistern leaking

Will have a further check tomorrow. I think I can replace the float valve but I have no experience replacing service valves so wouldn't really know what I was doing. I have noticed that the toilet upstairs has a flexi hose connector. So if I was feeling really brave I guess I would cut the...

    Water inlet to cistern leaking

I have had as good a look as I can and i'm pretty sure there's no crack. Do you mean this one (excuse the cached link, screwfix is down for maintenance)...

    Water inlet to cistern leaking

Thanks, I have put a 1/2" fibre washer in the correct place but water is still leaking from the same place (in the second picture). EDIT: It doesn't seem to leak when the water is flowing slowly but as soon as the pressure goes up it starts leaking again.
