    Some questions regarding pipework

Interesting. Lagging is fairly cheap so yeah I think I'll go for that :) I'll look in to plastic push-fit stuff then, though I'd still really rather not have a join behind the wall if I could help it. Yeah she's sticking with electric. We have some 10mm in the shed so will be replacing her...

    Some questions regarding pipework

Hi, I have a few questions regarding the plumbing at my mums place. 1.) She's looking at getting a new shower fitted, and while we're at it I thought it would be nice to conceal the pipework so it isn't on show. The shower sits on plasterboard and I'm 99% certain there's a gap big enough...

Best place to buy brushed chrome switches?

I really love this style but struggle to find anywhere that sells the whole range ( brushed chrome flat switches / plug sockets / etc) If you know of any retailers who sell this stuff at not-too-silly prices it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

Yeah, it's a lot better in fact :)

    Curtain pole keeps coming loose

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but... A couple of years ago we put up a curtain pole at my mums place. The curtain pole hangers have come loose twice and each time I drilled new holes, assuming I'd done it wrong the first time. They're falling out of the wall again. I can tell you...

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

? I've set it to the medium setting, rather try that and see if it cures the problem first before setting it to max. Why waste water if it isn't necessary?

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

Okay, so I've taken a look at the holes. There are three holes in total with the blue tab covering the lower two. I'm assuming the toilet was set to 'eco' flush then. Rather than move the blue tab up, covering the middle and upper holes giving me a "full" and potentially wasteful flush, I...

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

Went round tonight, the flush itself isn't as bad as I made out, one push of the handle and it flushes continuously until it hits the same water level in the cistern (however it doesn't dump the whole volume of water, check the pics...). It's just most of the time waste takes two or three...

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

I honestly just think it's a crap flush but I'll take some pics shortly and you'll probably be able to deduce what is it from those?

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

Not sure, I'll check a bit later, though I do have to hold the handle for a few seconds so I assume it's pretty full. All interesting info, thanks :) Though the 1:40 ratio confuses me? Yeah, as above I'll check the volume of water it holds atm and I'll take some pics. It's a solitary...

Toilet won't flush properly, is this the cause...?

My mum lives in the top floor of a three story flat. Ever since she's been there the toilet has never worked properly, or at least how I'd consider a toilet to. Any solid waste requires at least two flushes, sometimes more. When you flush the water runs away fine so it's not a blockage, it just...

Electric Heater controlling, does it exist?

It's a storage heater but it has a built in convector heater on the front, so they should be entirely controllable with an external stat etc (in line with the mains supply to the unit, switching on / off etc).

Electric Heater controlling, does it exist?

Cheers for the advice Steve. She's in for far less than 12 hours a day during the week, so a thermostat solution would be very welcome really. @AndyPRK, we definitely want a thermostat. I've been researching the idea some more tonight and I can't believe there's so little option in the way of...

Electric Heater controlling, does it exist?

Sounds about right, would you be able to link us up to a suitable timer/thermostat with contactor? Yeah, they're economy 7 storage heaters with a convection heater built in. Problem with E7 is I think it's a fiddly system to work and isn't even that cheap to run, you have to plan in advance...

Electric Heater controlling, does it exist?

Hi, Where my mum lives there's no gas supply available to her. This means she has to use electric panel heaters to provide warmth to the flat. Where she used to live, she had gas central heating and a thermostat on the wall which could be adjusted / timed so the house would be warm before...

The #3 ring wire is only for really old phones I thought? I'd advise against connecting it, as it can have a detrimental effect to adsl sync rate (should you have adsl...)
