    That's a four pair cable,orange/white, blue/brown,red/slate and green /black.you only need one of the pairs connected and in this case it seems to be orange and white which should go to a and b or 2 and 5 depending on your master socket.

    No, you can only have one router in sync on a phone line ,if however you have a open wireless connection on your router they could use this.

    Its possibly dis one leg,this means one of the wires needed for your dial tone has become dissconnected somewhere between you and the exchange,if you dial your number from your mobile does it ring or is it engaged.?

    They will probably block it at the eaves and change the cable from the eaves to the master socket,tell them its for the sky box and you need it next to the t.v. P.s they wont damage your porch roof and if its a flat roof they are not allowed to walk on it unless they are flat roof trained...

    A and b go to 2 and 5 ,does not matter which way around you connect them.Make sure you fit a master socket and not just a extension socket.

    I have checked between earth in sockets and the other light switches and all appears to be ok,when we had electrics checked i can remember the electricain checking the earthing for the lights,we also had the earth bonding done at the same time.
