Fitting extending arm TV bracket to Plasterboard

I think your 20cm by 20cm board is the way to go. You can use your existing fixings and double up with something like corefix, you could also triple up by using an adhesive such as Stixall to hold the timber to the wall.

Fitting extending arm TV bracket to Plasterboard

The USP of Corefix is that it has an internal metal collar which spans the blockwork and plaster, thereby reducing the risk of the fixing pulling down through the plasterboard.

Fitting extending arm TV bracket to Plasterboard

I have only used Corefix a couple of times. I was (mostly) impressed with them. I initially used them to fit shelving racks in my garage. The walls were battened plasterboard over thermolite blocks. 80% of the fixings grabbed well, not sure that I would rely upon them for an arm that only has...

Fitting extending arm TV bracket to Plasterboard

Those fittings will only work in plasterboard up to 15mm, but I guess you mean drilling through the board, using the fixings in the plasterboard and then possibly using longer screws.

Door handle retention screws - Why so bad?

I think you might be correct. The following post says that Ryobi made one, and apparently so did dewalt https://www.facebook.com/groups/dullmensclub/posts/2123486894974507/ I have found a few Chinese ones as well.

Drainage quotes am I paying to much?

Poster #33. On occasion, you do offer sound advice. Sometimes you come across as being extremely opinionated and your advice is flawed. What gives?

    Textured wallpaper

Ok, if it is not going to be painted, yeah, you will need to run it around the corner. Check the light sources in the room to determine where the overlap will be least noticeable. I normally go for about an inch of overlap. If the texture is really, really deep, you could run some soft...

    Textured wallpaper

Do you have any links to the paper? If it is a paper that will be painted, it might make sense to cut it at the internal corners and then caulk the corners.

Problems with landline / phone - can't hear caller

Having just checked, #3 was for the bell ringer in the phone to work. From (my distant) memory, yeah, people used to use #4 as well, that might have been the anti-tinkle one.

Replacement backing pad for DeWalt D26410 Sander

Problems with landline / phone - can't hear caller

These days, don't many houses no longer have the cable used for generating the power for the bell ringer anyway? When I was younger 2,3,5 were the standard. Most sockets I now come across only use two cables (2 and 5?).

Replacement backing pad for DeWalt D26410 Sander

Can you not simply hold the pad whilst using the allen key? My first Festool 150mm sander didn't have a spindle lock function. I used to hold the pad and loosen it. From memory, it was an allen key anti-clockwise- which makes sense given that the pad spins clockwise.

Sayings which stick with you, through your life

"wash your teeth"-a customer yesterday said it after I had been working in their bathroom. I mentioned that my Irish mother used the same phrase. BTW- she was talking about her husband being able to use his bathroom, rather than giving me a directive.

Problems with landline / phone - can't hear caller

Yeah, REN- ringer equivalent number. It relates to the the amount of power provided by the phone line and the amount consumed by each device. That said, from memory, the max was 4 REN but a MODEM or answer machine takes their (primary) power from the mains. You might be able to correct me, but...

    Matt finish rubbed off.

Sorry, but why not talk to the fitter or the manufacturer? I am a decorator-yeah, there have have been times in the past where I tried to polish out minor imperfections on long runs of painted worktops (which I had previously painted). On each occasion they went from being oilbased eggshell to...

Problems with landline / phone - can't hear caller

What happens if you plug the phone into the engineer socket on the NTE5 box? To do that, you undo the two lower screws on the box, you will then see a another RJ11 socket that you can plug the phone into. Doing so bypasses any extensions. I guess that you could try that with the coupler as...

    Supermatt as finish coat

Years ago, I lined my kitchen walls, primed the paper and then applied oil based eggshell. The finish was lovely. I sanded the primer back to get it flat. Yeah, it stank for a few days but any cooking splashes could be scrubbed off using a green scouring pad. Waterbased eggshell is easier to...

    changing the guttering rubber seals

You might be better off replacing the joins/unions. To be honest, I didn't realise that the likes of B&Q sell seals. And yeah, as you have discovered they are not universal.
