    Thank you, sounds about right. Think I will have to abandon this idea of using a sound bomb. So, would I be able to use the bell out of an old telephone, what voltage do they work on?

    The bell-push and cable work okay with a more conventional bell which I have in use already, so would I be right to assume that the bell-push must be breaking the circuit properly? Not sure what the second question means, the cable from the bell-push to the actual ringer is not running...
