    Plum Trees

Unless it is a huge problem I would try to wait until summer comes around once again. Although it is not essential like dave said you could be risking silver leaf spores, take the risk by all means but if you can avoid it I would wait.

    first course of tiles

You start from the middle, as catlad said. Stick to this rule on any roofing job and you won't be far from spot on!

    Laser Level?

I would agree also! Take the topcon. You will have a cheaper however more reliable product here... It is likely that if you set yourself some room for any refurbishment needed on it you will still save money. The Datum's are not the most reliable and I know a few people who's have packed...

    Matt emulsion appears slightly shiny

On a few occasions I have simply sanded down the area, only lightly but it seems to do the job. It takes away a bit of the mat emulsions shine. As for the decorator using a roller and you not that can only make a difference over a large scale I would imagine its because you haven't added as...

    neighbours drains

Andy is right! The cannot block your drain off... I would just crack on and keep it to yourself

    Peeling and associated issues

I would definitely agree with the advice given, get yourself a multimeter. This will give you a clearer diagnosis.

    Table leg fixings

Hi Guys, Here's a website i've used on many occasions... One of the cheapest on the web without a doubt! They sell screws and fittings http://www.eurofitdirect.co.uk/screws-and-fittings

level up uneven backgronds ready for tileing

Roy C is correct... I would agree with what he is saying. The sooner we can actually see some pictures of what the job is like though the better!

    How is this coving/effect done?

I would agree with Micilin, There must be a top moulding put there first of all and the cove will be like Micilin said run in 'situ'. Can you give me any more details of the job itself as i've done many a coving job myself.

    Double Glazing Question

If there is a leak then your doors may in fact need resealing, which isn't an extensive job and can be easily a quick DIY job. Try using some filler around the door, it may be a simple problem like this.

    Plastic sheet.

I would agree with catlad on this one! Roof batons are fairly cheap and also easy to screw in. However ensure you have the plastic leading to the gutter to ensure drainage. You could in fact stop the drain working otherwise. Regards

    Decorating in Winter

Hi wzrd, In the winter months decorating isn't as easy as it is throughout the summer, for obvious reasons such as with the walls being colder the paint doesn't stick as easy. However this shouldn't stop you decorating, i wouldn't advise taking a whole house project for example and it...

    Painting Staircase

I would advise using Ronseal also, I used this type of paint specifically when I completed my stairs a couple of years ago... Now it is still in top shape, ronseal is probably one of the most resistant on the market. You will however have to prepare the staircase well for a good result, sand...

    Painting over flaked paint

Hi Guys, Filler will do a decent job if it is only over this sort of size space. However for the best job possible a coat of plaster would be the best option. Plaster will give an all round neater finish. If you do choose to just use filler then like steve said you should sand down and...

Are Engineering bricks any good for facing or to be exposed?

Hi Guys, If your engineering bricks are laid with a lot of precision and also pointed as well as possible then yes they can be a good brick to use. If you are rendering however you need to ensure you do not render over the bricks. For a simple 3-4 coarses above ground level you should be...
