    I don't know the particular laminate you have but you can get tapping blocks specifically for laminate. Some laminates have their own fitting kits - you should not be using a bodgit system to fit the flooring. You're right - masking tape won't be enough to protect the boards.

    Because it's a solution to a problem and with a little patience there wouldn't actually be a problem. I think it's really intended for a sub floor that has inherent damp but can be used in your circumstances. If you do use it make sure the builder does so within its limitations.

    If the Karndean has been put down correctly then it's very doubtful you will be able to re-use it after lifting as this will distort the planks out of shape. Karndean machining is fairly consistent and you should be able to replace any planks with new ones.
