    Windows Moviemaker

Sorry, wasn't sure if you meant you were only going by what the movie maker preview shows, which are generally blurry, or the the final ouput through full media player. What type of file is your final movie (avi, wmv, mpg)? What compression/quality settings are you using?

    Repairing or levelling

Hi After being assured the floor would be levelled, my sister has had a kitchen installed, quite a small overall area of around 4m x 3m. Kitchen in ok as is upper tiling but seems the promised floor levelling wasn't done and basically the floor dips to the middle. The tiler for the floor...

Blocking Peer to Peer via a router.

Just allowing HTTP port 80 from a particular IP should solve any problems..should they wish to use secure processing then you can always open up the port as needed rather than open by default. Security tip is to close everything and only open what you need.

    Painting internal fire doors

Hi, I've been reading the forum and have picked up some great tips as I've stripped and now preparing 3 floor stairway, nevertheless I still don't think I can competently paint a 6 panelled door in 15 minutes ;) The house was previously flats prior to converting it back to a house (made a...

    Batten a sloped ceiling

Hi I've some PVC cladding to be installed over a long span, around 6 metres length x 3 metres. The original ceiling is lathe and plaster (loft above) which slopes/falls away about 2 metres in on the width. I plan to batten with 3x2 on every joist, so my questions. What size/type screws...

    motorcyclists and speed limits

A dickhead is a dickhead regardless of the form of transport, as in the original case. Bikers generally take their own life in their hands and, from my experience - I don't drive a bike - are more aware of their surroundings. The test is much harder than a car test. Their was, or is, it...

    What's this wood?

Thanks. Never heard of those two Jason, they are the originals from the house (I assume) which is from 1880+ if that's any help, the wood comes off orange when sanding. The handrail, which I hope is the same and original once the paint is off, seems a little redder but I hope I can finish...

    What's this wood?

After a lot of huffing and puffing I have now a couple of 'stripped' newels, can anyone tell me what type of wood this is? I believe the handrail is the same type so would be interested to know what it is and how best to finish it.
