It's a closed loop control system, thermistor senses and controls gas flow via controller. Controller has other inputs : WC, ignition sense, fan speed, overheat thermistor, room stat, timer, temperature controls etc. Outputs are gas valve, fan, lights, display etc. Hope this helps
