Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Hi guys, Just an update that the water co. may have possibly found the gully as the green dye is now clearly showing in the basement. Being honest this guy who came down was a proper $%!@ and gave me a real hard time and stress - He seemed to have some sort of a grudge or problem with the...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

That is the plan Andy, but whilst they are still doing their tests, I feel it's best to wait until these are complete.

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

That bright green or blue certainly haven't shown and even the hint of yellow has now disappeared by morning. What is even more baffling is that if it's that colour we see in the photo is a yellow dye, then how has it travelled UPHILL into the side of the house???? :- Drains by ripperuk posted...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

As promised, I've had the water company guys out. The disappointing thing is that this guy was very difficult to deal with. He's ended up putting a green dye in one gulley and yellow in the second one. Now have a look at the picture belong. The issue is that I can't tell if this is yellow or...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Thanks Ian. It seems the Osma is made of plastic. Since this is a driveway, will it be able to take the weight of a couple of ton vehicle? If not, what can I do to safeguard it?

Which method would you say is more reliable? Also is there like a video guide showing me what to do available anywhere?

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Hugh, yes you're correct as you did state earlier to have the drains surveyed. But you have to remember, that in this game there are a lot of cowboys and it's hard to trust many people. For example the guy I got to do the private cctv survey lied to me and said that my drain pipes were going...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Thanks Nige and Hugh. I totally agree with what you guys have said. But if you notice, this thread is now spanning over 5 pages....surely that tells you something about me? ....I'm not one to give up  Now if we can just eliminate the gutter that's causing all these issues, then at...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Sorry mate. I wasn't trying to suggest you were amateurs at all, lol. I was just really shocked at the length of time it took for the dye which showed up after a good 15-20hrs... Especially when even the water company had assumed it was ground water. I really do appreciate all your advice and help.

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

This dye was put in, not by me, but by the water company. I have 3 drains and he put i think green in one and red in two of them. He also put a black and blue dye in the neighbours storm drain and gulleys. Since they've now narrowed it to 2 gulleys on my property, they are coming out tomorrow...

You won't believe it!! I woke up this morning to find red dye showing in the cellar! IMG_20171011_080329 by ripperuk posted 11 Oct 2017 at 8:58 AM IMG_20171011_083447 by ripperuk posted 11 Oct 2017 at 8:58 AM IMG_20171011_080321 by ripperuk posted 11 Oct 2017 at 8:58 AM What do you make of...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Hi guys, Really sorry for not getting back to you. Unfortunately no dye has shown. However, after some rain last night, I've had water seep under the footing stones. I decided to call the water company, whom were very helpful. They sent out their engineers within a few hours of my call...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

You mean the water would filter to the point where it's clean and clear? Wow.... I never knew that. Tonight after everyone has gone to sleep, I'll put a teaspoon down the wc. Now how many times shall I flush it after that?

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Thanks hugh. I hope you're not going to mind me asking this, but why the WC? I mean the water I'm getting does not smell, so surely if the water from WC was coming out of the cellar, it would smell, wouldn't it?

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

Hi Ian, Thanks for your great advice. Unfortunately, I didn't see your reply until late evening, so diy stores were closed and I couldn't get any dye. However, I've got some update. I spent today digging further and noticed that the more I dug towards the right footing stone, the more wet...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

lol @ Ian - That'll smoke him out. Hugh - I totally agree. This is why I called the water company. They have advised that I wait for any water to show up in my cellar and once it does, to call them and they'll come out, take a sample and check the drainage with cctv/dye etc for free...

Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

We have a bit of an issue. Neighbour is not happy for me to go ahead is say that it could do more damage, even though I explained it's simply smoke and will show any leaks. Damn it!
