    Stove questions.....

Doggit and Blake, thanks for your recommendations. They are beautiful designs. However, they both can't be installed as I'd have to adjust a large portion of the chimney /fireplace..

    Ongoing window/condensation problems....

Crank, I'm just trying to think of every possible reason that could be causing this issue. No drying on the radiators. But some clothes are dried on a rack in the kitchen.

    Ongoing window/condensation problems....

Actually catlad, that does make a lot of sense. Could this also explain the cold draught??? I usually feel this draught behind the curtains during cold spells. How can I get this checked and fixed?

    Ongoing window/condensation problems....

Hi ronnie, We cook with the doors closed and the kitchen extractor switched on. The condensation strangely is in some rooms, including bedrooms, one living room, but not at all in kitchen, bathroom or the lounge. I can agree that the bedroom doors are closed due to privacy, but instead of...

Thanks mate. That's of great help. Now if I did go for a used one: 1.what DEFRA multifuel version would you recommend? 2.what sort of price should I pay? 3.what parts should I get with it? An eBay example would be much appreciated.

    Stove questions.....

That's excellent advice - My mistake as I just assumed when you were talking about helping to reduce damp, that you were stating I should get a vented version to help the air circulate. For the much wenlock, I was referring to these REVIEWS Anyway, I'm interested....how do these stoves...

    Stove questions.....

Thanks geraldthehampster. Just to clarify, your say don't get a stove which requires a vent? I like the idea of a stove which transfers heat to other rooms, however the doesn't the Much Wenlocks have very bad reviews?

    Ongoing window/condensation problems....

Thanks for your replies everyone. My apologies for the colours. We've already got quite a few vents and windows are open a couple of hours a day during cold weather and most of the day during warm weather. My windows are double-glazed. The kitchen & bathroom have a fairly new extractor and...

    Stove questions.....

Thanks Doggit mate. I've been offered a Saltfire ST2 defra approved stove for £500 + £400 for the fittings. Then on top of that I'm looking at around £7-800 for installation.

    Stove questions.....

The issue with leaving them open almost most of the day is that the house would be freezing cold and counters the point of keeping the house warm. Also doggit mate, if you remember, I advised that even if left open during the night, they make hardly any difference to the condensation issues...

    Stove questions.....

Thanks for all your advice guys, which is much appreciated. I'll check out the literature & ecofan mentioned. I'd be happy to go with a 5kw stove if it means more effeciency. Regarding humidity...Windows are only closed at night. During the day they are open an hour or two, depending on the...

    Stove questions.....

Right I see. My house is a 5 bedroom semi-detached. The living room that I plan to have the stove installed in, is approx 6m by 5m. I just thought by getting a larger kw stove I could make the room hot enough that I could then open the living room door to dry heat the remaining house and...

    Stove questions.....

Hello everyone, I'm wanting to buy a stove and since I've never owned one, I have many questions on my mind, so please bear with me. I've seen a popular stove (OTTAWA) that is 12kw, around 76-80% efficient and defra approved, but then I've also seen some similar spec popular brands, such as...
