    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

~So they came around today. They did say the issue seems to be related to water flow and not pressure. However they couldn't check the flow as the stop cock is on the inside of the boundary ( about 0.5m on the inside). So instead of testing it there, they are going to come back, dig up outside...

Under pinning due to extension and not subsidence

Not sure mate. This is what I have been told. Are you saying I need to get another opinion?

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

Spoke with water company. They are sending someone around on Friday to take a look and let me know what we need to do / can be done. According to the person on the phone, the pressure should be no less than 9lt per min. To me this sounds quite low?

Under pinning due to extension and not subsidence

yes, this is exactly what we have to do. They dig alternate 1m long x 1m deep holes and then fill it up with concrete. Once set then goes to the other alternate holes. It is not a complicated job, but a very labour intensive work I guess. I am dreading the cost. Somewhere I read you have to...

Under pinning due to extension and not subsidence

As said, I am not sure and don't know the ins and outs. He said the overhang is not much and it could fail. As part of the building, the inspector would want a report from them to confirm the existing foundation would take the extra load and he said putting all the calculations in, it is not...

Under pinning due to extension and not subsidence

The overhang on the inside wall is obviously enough as it is a raft. It is the outer overhang which is only 100mm and structural engineer said it needs to be 200mm. So will need to dig down to 1m below surface and then go under the raft and fill in with concrete. But I am not a builder nor an...

Under pinning due to extension and not subsidence

So we are looking to make an extension on our bungalow. Initially we were going for a full single story extension, however due to foundation and age of property, I decided to go for a dorma conversion instead. However the structural engineer has now come back and said the existing raft...

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

Water company replaced the meter about 4 years ago by the looks of things as we have a smart water meter ( not our choice was installed by previous owner). Will get on the blower to them. The stop cock outside the house is on the side of the drive before you get to the road. Will see what they...

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

Hmmm, maybe need to change my water main also. But i will check with the Yorkshire Water first and see what they say. Who is responsible for replacing the stop cock if it is not working? The one outside the house is seized and I can't open or close it?

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

There are 2 stop cocks: The one inside the house is fully open and i can't open it anymore. The one outside it is completely seized. I can't open or close it. I have replaced all the pipes with 22mm feed and then where it drops down to go to the outlets, they drop down to 15mm I have...

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

cool. I have plenty of scales in the house. So I can open the tap fully, and fill a bucket in lets say 30 second. Weight the water and lets say it is 500g. This means 500ml per 30 seconds, or 1000ml ( 1lt) per minute. Is this correct ?

I have no means of testing the flow rate. Can you get a cheap one from screwfix?

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

By the way, by conventional I mean condensing. But I am sure you understood. :D Edit: Seems they are not the same! OMG! So many different things. Wish someone could tell me which I need!

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

I don't think there will be any room for an airing cupboard on the top floor. The most we will have will be a small loft space that can house the boiler and cylinder and overflow. Is there any issues with putting cylinder in the loft? I am trying to rectify the poor pressure problems we have...

    Combi Boiler or Conventional?

We have a small bungallow, and it has a Worcester Bosch 30Si combi boiler. As the bungalow is now, it only has a single bathroom with electric shower and kitchen with Sink. We also have a washing machine and dishwasher. Problem we have is that the water pressure is shocking. We have problems...

of course I have. Currently waiting for the replacement. However it is the hassle of getting the thing off the wall, then having to wait for the replacement and then installing it back up again. I have returned many many things under the consumer protection act and sale of goods act. But as...

Replacing an old CU with a new one

Completely agree. Which is why one should always obtain at least 3 quotes so he has something to compare against. One might charge £500 for an EICR thinking he is not going to get any work out of it . On the other hand, another leccy might charge £60 for one, knowing by being reasonable and...
