Thanks for that, it's what I thought - I didn't realise that he hadn't balanced the system afterwards. The pressure is 1.8bar. I have already reduced the first rad to about 1/2 turn open, and that seems to have improved matters. Seems that I'll be having to do a further bit of amateur balancing...

I have stripped out marley tiles and want to lay ceramic tiles onto the concrete base. There is a film of old marley adhesive on the concrete, is it ok to grout directly on top of this, and if so, should I add PVA to the grout?

Thanks for the advice folks. As running into a spigot is far more convenient I will be doing that - but noting and watching for the possible problems.

Is there any problem with running the drain hose of a washer into a special sink trap waste with a 'spur', by securing it with a jubilee clip?
