    Help Designing a Wiring System

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I'm not doing the work, it is just theory for my SNVQ. The room would be a roof void of a factory building. Where in the regs does it say about maximum floor area a ring can serve? I have never seen this, but would be good to have a read. I would have...

    Help Designing a Wiring System

Hi, Could you help with the following diagram please? Which would be best, a ring or radical circuit? I think ring due to the length. Also, when trying to calculate the cable size online I come out at 10mm. Is that really correct? I'd have thought 2.5mm like normal circuits, but I...

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Switch d was in the correct position :) I've returned the display to the supplier now! As I'm sure it should have worked the way I wired it up.

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Hi, Yes I double checked that switch f is in the correct position, and I am using Input 1, as I was told by the company which I bought it off this is the input which he programmed for me to use. Thanks a lot

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Thanks for the replies. I will try what you suggested today. The make of the display is a KIMO ATT300. Thanks a lot Ryan

    Correct Installation?

How would you know this? Or would it come with experience for example?

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Please can someone help me again? I have wired up the above circuit, but it isn't working. The display shows 300 all the time. At first I thought the transmitter may be faulty, but I bought some resistors and wired it in like below, as far as I am aware, this should show around 120 (ish)...

    Correct Installation?

Yeah, not too clever of him. I don't know much about this sort of thing, but I was just checking the install for my own piece of mind, and noticed the RCCB and not MCB etc. Quite proud of myself  As for needing a RCCB?! Again, I don't know if it is NEEDED, but isn't it safe having one...

    Correct Installation?

Well the electrician came back, and fitted a MCB as well as the RCCB. His excuse was he got confused....bless him.

    Correct Installation?

I've had a look in the 17th Edt book, and am I correct looking at Table 4E4A? The SWA is 4 core, three phase. Method C would give a capacity of 94A, but then it does go through 100mm of insulation and steel conduit?

    Correct Installation?

Also, could I possibly ask how to calculate the load of the 16mm cable please? It is SWA, 21 meters in length, going through 100mm of fire proof ceiling, but also through 2.5m of stainless conduit. Thanks a lot

    Correct Installation?

Hi, Thank you very much for the replies. Is a RCD needed? I don't know to be honest. My manager contracted this out so we didn't need to think about it, but out of my own interest I had a look at it to try to gain better knowledge for myself. A RCD couldn't really hurt could it? The...

    Correct Installation?

I was thinking that the contractor maybe was thinking the RCCB will give the overcurrent protection?! The distance from the tap-off-box to RCCB is approx. 5m (in 35mm^2), then from the RCCB to the 125A switch the distance is approx. 21m (in 16mm^2). I didn't think the 16mm^2 cable would be...

    Correct Installation?

We had a contractor in at work, as no one here is qualified to install what we wanted, but is it correct? We have a new machine coming, which uses 64A, so purchased a 125A interlocked switch. The contractor has done the following: Tap-Off-Box from Bus Bar, with 125A fuses -> 35mm^2 SWA...

    Cable Identification Machines

Hi, Can anyone recommend a cheap(ish) machine to make cable markers? Not sticky lable type though, more something like this: http://www.expresselectrical.co.uk/part.asp?Part=PP-PM07507 Sticky labels and written ones don't seem to last in the wet environment that they are needed in, and...

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Thank you all very much for the help! It has helped me greatly. Just to confirm (for my brain), is this how it should be wired up? Thanks a lot Ryan

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Hi, Thank you very much for the replies! It has helped me understand it a bit more (I think). The display is quite large, so has a 230v supply for itself, and then has the 4-20mA input to give the temperature range, which is 0-300C in this case. So am I correct in saying that the...

    PT100 Sensor Wiring

Hi, I'm a little confused with something and hopefully you guys will be able to help. I have been given a little project to do, but I am confused by this wiring diagram: I have a: PT100 sensor 4-20mA transmitter Digital Display (temperature) From the above circuit diagram, I...

    Understanding Motor Name Plates

Thanks for you help again. So I'm right it saying the 220v 3 Phase system is quite un-common in the UK? I was under the impression (and wrong) that the 220-240v on the name plate mean't you would just use single phase, with a capacitor.

    Understanding Motor Name Plates

Thanks for the reply, I think I'm understanding it better now :) We do have some single phase input invertors which out 3-phase, and are wired in Delta. I guess this is the reason :) Another potentially stupid question then: If you measure across two phases of a 3 phase system, you would...
