Thanks Reason I ask is that my plasterer was a bit lazy in finishing around the edges of the back box and my skills are limited. Was going to do a "cover up" job. Someone in the office mentioned "finger plates" but the only ones i'v seen are ugly plastic ones. Anyone know if others exist...

Can anyone tell me what the heck is the green grease like substance I have found in my bathroom pull switch AND a few sockets? At first I thought it was green paint to show the unit hadn't been tampered with until i touched it.

Thanks. There is an 8 inch vertical pipe sticking out the top of the boiler. Which vlave to manual. There are two. One has a lever that resists when you move it, the other is just loose. Not been running it. Luckily we got a fir heatwave going on (32 deg cent) at the moment.

I have an old Glowworm Fuelsaver 40B Mk2. Tried to fire it up after draining radiators to replace one in bathroom and cure leak in another. Also had a new bathroom installed. Bled rads so no air there. After firing up the main pipe above boiler gets VERY hot and starts to bang and shake...

Just moved into our new home. Turned on the boiler after 30 minutes of trying to get the pilot light to stay on. As soon as i dialled up 1 on the control knob the pipes coming out of the top started to moved and bang violently. They also got very hot very quickly. Q) duff pump of air lock...
