    Don't forget

Spoiling doesn't really count as an abstention, though. Too many variables. http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0017/42650/Online-version-102-06-all-documents.pdf A 'none of the above' option would be far too scary a prospect for our politicians to consider...

I know. It seems strange, doesn't it? :D

    Don't forget

This would be an absolute necessity if voting were made compulsory in the UK. It's outrageous enough that it isn't included on ballot papers already. "None Of The Above!"

Blagdon Powersafe Outdoor Wall Socket Kit

Seems to me that a few people in this thread are having difficulty understanding the difference between being 'in the scope of Part P' and being 'notifiable'. :)

    BS 1363:1995 Electrical Sockets

So there you go then. Question answered. My 2nd option was the correct one. Now you'll either have to change your working schedule so you can visit your library, or cough up and buy a copy of the standard, unless some naughty person sends you a hooky copy or download link.

    BS 1363:1995 Electrical Sockets

Gangsta, can I just clarify something? You do realise that BS1363 only applies to 230V mains plugs & sockets (aka 13A), and wouldn't cover anything like you've described? It would only come into play if you are planning to include 13A outlets or plugs as part of your product.

Complete cobblers. Please point us towards where you've gleaned this gem of information from. He's most probably right. Read the wiki to see what he's talking about, and how it bears no relation to your first point: electrics:part_p

    PAT test and RCD protection.

I assume the first one you mean is an earth bond continuity test (obviously non-applicable for Class II!). The other is the insulation resistance test, which for Class II tools such as drills, hot air guns (as above) etc, with big chunks of exposed metal on them, would be far from pointless.

Exactly. I should've put "Edit: I was talking c**p" to avoid any confusion. Apologies if people got the wrong end of the stick.

Washing Machine -temporary use in double socket on main ring

Who has led you to believe this? It's not true, providing the extension lead is of an appropriate rating and length for the task. Nothing to do with molded plugs etc. on the washing machine.

    Very Dangerous (looking back)

Similarly, an IEC C7 connector will fit very nicely onto pins 1 & 2 of a 3-pin male XLR connector, such as found on a pro microphone I have heard tales of certain people doing this, as that is how they presumed is the correct way to plug in a mic. :?
