No you dont, look in the manual and follow instructions its just a case of draining heating side from boiler and hw side then 2 screws and voila!

Just checked new plate £101 the seals should be ok, if not you need 4 at £5 each retail.

TBH its not difficult to remove the plate and clean its only 2 screws, then put some chemicals in plate leave for a bit and swill it out, i always clean them and they come up a treat. If you feel competant enough after reading the manual then give it a go it will cost you a tenner for chemicals...

Blocked plate is my guess can you measure some temp? Does the temp on front of boiler shoot up very high very quick? Does the pressure gague bounce?

Whats a trv got to do with anthing? If the element is sized right and not heating the rail it could be faulty isthe stat turned up full? Can you check resistance on element?

You would need the correct seimans one or i would recommend a honeywell cm927 much better unit, i change alot of the siemans ones theynare cheap rubbish. Have you tried new bought batteries or just using ones from the same pack, had a similar problem and it turned out customer had bought new...

You should not turn the gas control partially off at all, i suggest opening it back up fully and getting a different engineer to look, from what i can make of the video i would be checking things you should not be touching so please dont go messing!
