Gareth - Thanks for that, and welcome to the forums. First post I see. :) What's the pump overrun mode for then, it seemed to fire up randomly at about 5am today? Would the pump overrun only occur after something else? There was no DHW demand and the programmer is set very low overnight...

DP - Thanks for that. Anyone got any ideas on the mode "6" thing on the Remeha, it seems to be the only mode not mentioned in the manual. 0,1,2,3,4,5 and 7 are all listed but not 6? :? I'm intrigued to know heh. Andy

Gosh this thread got exciting overnight. A couple of quick questions about how the Remeha actually runs, now that we are getting to know it... i) It sometimes fires up at odd times, when the thermostat says the room is already at target temp, and when no DHW is being demanded. And...

swidders - Thanks for that, I just thought I ought to explain why we weren't here when the boiler was being installed. fitz1 - What's the benchmark? namsag - Uhoh. Whats up with the electric supply to boiler? :) I can't see an earth bond to the gas pipe near the gas mains...

Godknows - Thanks for that, my Dad was house sitting as it happens but I think he mostly kept out of the chap's hair. I'd have loved to have been here but my wife and I won a shortbreak away last year but cancelled it the day before we were due to go (this time last year) as my father in law...

Aye that would be awkward heh. But we live out the way and computers only made it to this part of Sussex in the last couple of months  so I'd say the chances of him being a member here are slim. In all seriousness though, I've not said anything on here that I wouldn't say to...

Nope we've not paid him yet and yup good idea on jotting down the couple of bits to chat about with him/get him to look at. Nope I shan't mention I've been on here, I think he'll be ok without that. Thanks again, Andy

I'm not "trying to find fault" I'm running a couple of things that I had queries over past people more knowledgable than myself. It's raised a couple of issues and allayed some worries on my side. That's what I came on here for, the fact is the guy has got to come back to do bits he hasn't done...

swidders - Thanks for that, that's helpful. Yes, I said "there should be" a magnaclean in my post because he quoted on the basis of providing one, not through some intangible sense of justice on my part. I will ask him about the rad but, as I put in my post, my purpose in coming on here...

Mickyg - Thanks for that, that's interesting. cso30 - Thanks for that, interesting on the Magnaclean, I'll ask him about that. Sorry the pics were just done on my phone, the cable used to be the main electrics for the pump etc. when the hot water cylinder was there but they seem to be a mains...

kevindgas - Thanks for that. There is what looks like wider bore copper pipe surrounding the run of gas pipe as it leaves and re-enters the building. Is that all that's needed? Will check the earth bond when I get home. I'm not sure exactly where the old flue was (i.e. to the specific...

Hi all, Our ageing heat-only Potterton has finally been replaced with a new Remeha 39c combi. As our boiler had died it was great that the plumber was able to fit us in so quick but the work was done whilst we were away and I had a few queries about how things had been done. To be clear...

Please help, Potterton Nettaheat 10-16 stopped firing up

Just to answer me own question (in case anyone finds this by searching). I found that having the immersion (which I found was 3kw) on for about 1hr 20 mins was enough to get the water hot enough a decent bath. That might have been too long though? Andy

Please help, Potterton Nettaheat 10-16 stopped firing up

Thanks for the tips guys, it seems we are only going to go less than a week without heating as we've booked the new boiler install for Thursday. Yay! :D So immersion heaters then... ...we've never used ours. I know this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string question" but veeeery...

Please help, Potterton Nettaheat 10-16 stopped firing up

Hi there, Literally a couple of weeks before we are due to replace our aging Potterton 10-16 heat only boiler it appears to have packed up. When it should be firing up to supply the central heating system it just makes a loud humming noise and does nothing. Being an IT chap I've tried...

Yet another flat roof to pitched question

Just a bit of an update, thanks to info here my roofer is going to come back with a joiner/chippie and see what angle they could get, using tiles like Marley Wessex, Redland Grovebury he is hopeful we might be able to achieve something. Subject to planning of course. I'll let you know...

Yet another flat roof to pitched question

Thanks for that. I'd love for that to be the case but I suspect that as the actual water proofing function of the roof would be being provided by something similar to a flat roof (the felt underneath the tiles) that at insurance company would treat it as though it were just any other flat...
