Yet another flat roof to pitched question

Thanks gents. I think an insurance company might whinge about that though if it came to a claim as they would argue the roof was not of standard, tiled construction. :(

Yet another flat roof to pitched question

Thanks for that, do you mean that the replacement roof would be like an "A" shape, with a peak in the middle? Rather than peaking at the wall? If at all possible I'd like to avoid that as I worry it would make it more obtrusive for the neighbours off to the left of my first picture, and I...

Yet another flat roof to pitched question

Thanks for that, I suppose the challenge is getting something that performs at low pitch but which is also a close match to what we have currently on the main roof so we can get planning permission. I don't have a great photo of the existing tiles, but you can just about see them here on the...

Yet another flat roof to pitched question

Hi there, Sorry to ask a question similar to others here but I want to be sure I am understanding what I've read. We have a single storey extension with a felt flat roof at the back of our property which contains a bit of our kitchen and our dining room. We are sick of...

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Yep I doubt there will be much difference in cost as you say. It's just that keeping it bath only might give us a bit more flexibility in the design of the bathroom as the window ledge is in an annoying place (right where you'd want the shower).

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Yeah but we'd get that with just a bath upstairs and a shower downstairs though? Or did you mean one has a shower and one has a soak in the same place!? :o

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Yup electric shower is a possibility but part of the motivation here is to reduce my energy consumption and they seem to burn a lot of electric? And I'm not sure how much point there is in having two showers if you aren't going to use them both at the same time, I may as well save the money...

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Thanks for all the replies, particularly the on topic ones. I'm wondering if we perhaps ought to skip the two shower idea, and keep the bathroom as bath only when we refit it and look to install a shower just downstairs. That'd mean once the bath was run upstairs, then someone could...

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Hiya, I think a combi appeals as it would be a cheap way of getting rid of the tanks etc. in the loft without the expense of replacing cylinders etc. Obviously that's only any good if the performance is up to it though. Cheers, Andy

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Just had a quick look and I can't find any UK prices, found a couple of Euro ones though and they came out at like E3,300? Eek! If that's right then yeah that's out of our range I think... even before the £ sunk like a brick. It's a shame as Atags UK HQ is just round the corner from...

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Thanks again gents, I'm a long term lurker on here and did a fair bit of searching before I posted. I think I have a feel for the reps of the contributors on here so far. I should probably point out that we actually only have a bath currently, it will only be when we refurb the...

Okidokie.. couple of conflicting views there. Anyone else care to add some weight to either view? :D Andy

Any combis beefy enough for two showers?

Hi there, We live in a 1970's 3 bed detached house, double glazed and insulated. We are (and have been for a while) looking at replacing our ageing Potterton boiler. It is in a conventional arrangement currently but we like the idea of moving to a System or a Combi boiler to free up the space...

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

Does open vented = conventional? If so then yes I guess Simon has answered my question. Sorry about that. If there is very little difference between the efficiency of the two then it seems I'd be wasting my money to convert a conventional (open-vented?) setup to a System boiler...

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

Thanks again Simon, I'm really not trying to be a pain just looking for some thoughts from you guys. I suppose what I'm really asking is... ...given that much of those installation variables will be remaining unchanged; rads, pipework, insulation, house size etc. ... ...and given that...

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

Sorry didn't mean to upset anyone. I thought I was just asking a simple question really and I've not been getting any answers on here for a bit so I've done my best to show that I'm trying to find the answers myself by going and looking up figures in the hope that it will solicit...

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

Anyone? If say, I compare a... ecoTEC Plus 637 (system boiler) with a SEDBUK quoted efficiency rating of 91.2% ...with an... ecoTEC Plus 438 (conventional boiler) with a SEDBUK quoted efficiency rating of 90.8% ..is that giving me the full picture of the...

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

If I just compare the SEDBUK efficiency figures for say a Vaillant Conventional vs. Vaillant System boiler will this tell me which will be cheaper to run. Or will comparing the efficiency figures alone not give me the whole picture when comparing System vs. Conventional boilers? Cheers, Andy

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

Anyone got any thoughts re: the efficiency of Conventional vs. System? I think I've got my head around the other differences? Cheers, Andy

Stick with Conventional Boiler or move to Combi?

Been doing some thinking overnight. Just to clarify, is there any efficiency difference between Sytem boilers versus Conventional boilers? i.e. comparing two Vaillants of equivalent output, one a System boiler and one a Conventional, will they use different amounts of gas to do the same job...
