Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

That's a surprise then. The hub itself i can see fitting, if it's anything like the netgear ones i've had, but the packaging too? Anyway i looked on the website & it says if they can't make delivery it'll get left at the sorting office, so fingers crossed that happens & i can pick it up no...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

just to clarify - the socket HAS been removed. I can provide updated photos if required? So don't exhaust the rolley eyes just yet :) Side note- on the application form I said I wasn't living at the address. They're sending out the hub in a couple week but it seems like it'll be going to...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Thanks for that. Went through TopCashBack to get the £151 cashback & then £10 a month for 12 months on that deal was a steal. Although i'm not sure they're going to send someone out   The sign up process said i had an inactive line & that they probably wont need to send...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Yeah the socket is already off now. If I pull the wires out it'll take half the wall with it so I'll fill it. Not keen on drilling the wall myself. Not really confident to be doing that so I'll take my chances with the bloke doing it. Decision now is only Sky or BT. Sky are cheaper but...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

I'm not getting worked up. ;). I was just reading & was surprised (maybe I shouldn't have been) at the back & forth with Sky & BT in that thread for that customer. That's all.

Replacing wired alarm system with wireless. Any advice?

Easy when you know what you're on about :) Top man! Thanks a lot for he help. Just need to pick the right company to do it now & hope we don't get some right joker.

Replacing wired alarm system with wireless. Any advice?

Superb. Thanks. Having only experienced the burglar alarm setup we have, this quote baffles me. All we have right now is that control box. The keypad is on it as you can see. Do these new modern things come as 2 separate units then? The box & the pad separate? Is there any reason why...

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

This thread on the Sky forum is pretty shocking http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Talk-line-rental/Master-Socket-move-HELP/td-p/28021 Although hopefully we wont have such trouble since we 'wont have' a socket to begin with. Going to get it ordered up later tonight or this weekend some time. They...

Tips on getting doors back on?

Aye I was going to do that when I can stop forgetting to bring them when I go to the house. I just wondered why they didn't bite like the others.

That 'grabit' tool for rounded screw heads. Experienced it?

It's an old photo but IIRC the heads aren't really sitting too proud. The photo is a bit deciding that way I think. I couldn't grip on to anything. The hinge in the door side is a long triangular length of metal is the only (& poor) way I can describe it. Not knowing the names for hinges &...

Tips on getting doors back on?

Thing is, while I used the drill I actualled 'inched' the screw bit by bit. I did this because if it screwed at an angle & I went too fast I couldn't correct so id just give it small presses. When I felt the others tightening up id let off but the ones that still spin never tightened up.

Replacing wired alarm system with wireless. Any advice?

They had a dog in that room so could that be a reason why the red light was never on? Anyway this is my stuff... & then some sensors on windows & doors... So i'll need to locate a security company to look at this job but what would the upgrade job entail? * Just remove the...

That 'grabit' tool for rounded screw heads. Experienced it?

This be the rascal I was talking to some at work who are more DIY minded than myself Advice was as you say - drill the heads off & then use mole grips they said to remove the stumps, or to angle grind the heads off. Although drilling off seemed to cause some disagreement...

Tips on getting doors back on?

Yeah i guess it's practice. Lined the hinges up tonight, drew circles, did the pilot hole & got the wife to hold the door in place. Had it chocked up on mini pieces of wood which helped. Some of the screws still spin in their location though. On the bathroom door, there's 3 screws per...

That 'grabit' tool for rounded screw heads. Experienced it?

I'll post a photo tonight when I'm at my PC so we're all on the same page. I should've done that in the OP but basically instead of the head having a cross on it it's got an open circle where it's all been rounded.

Going fibre broadband & moving master socket.

Oh well that answers my next question then - as I was wondering it a message could be relayed via Sky about the install. I figured id be better off asking Siri to do it but oh well. Looks like they'll have to get irritated when thy come out then & give it the ol' rolley-eyes & tutting.

    Boiler losing pressure (slowly). Normal?

Encouraging news then. Thanks. I top it up as it gets on the verge of going in to the red. The last time it did that it made all sorts of clanging noises which i'm sure can't be anything good. Although when it went in to the red, if i remember right it was after we'd drained a lot of water...

Tips on getting doors back on?

Thanks for the info. It was pretty straight forward getting them back on when there were fair sized holes for the screws to go in But like i say, i've plugged these up as the screws were spinning, so i can't just slot them in. I'm trying to line the drill up central on the hinge holes so i...

Replacing wired alarm system with wireless. Any advice?

And that's why i thought i'd ask here first :) Thanks a lot guys. So, now the focus goes on to perhaps upgrading the system then - remaining on a wired setup. What does that entail really? Ours is a Scantronic 9448+ Like i say, it's been so long since we deactivated it, we can't...

Replacing wired alarm system with wireless. Any advice?

Is there anything wrong with switching out wired for wireless? (just out of curiosity) And what does upgrading the alarm entail then? Just take off that big box & switch with a different sort? What would a new wired one offer me? Just to say - i'm not challenging you, i'm just trying to...
