    Radial??????

Your TV and stereo won't be fused at 13a. They will draw a max of say 6a between them. The standard (BS1363) requires 13A total. Somewhere I read (probably here!) MK tested their sockets with 19A continuously being drawn without problems.

    Extension Radial circuit

Depends on your priorities/budget - off the top of my head ... If you have time consider replacing the CU now. If the extension is more urgent, buy an RCD and 2 mod enclosure. Then later replace Cu and re-ruse the RCD. Obviously if you replace the CU now you could consider the...

    new 2way con unit

Yes all enclosures have to maintain IP2X. Most CU’s have knock out designs that will achieve this. (Or use the rear entry ones). Just don't leave gaps. If you have a IP44 or greater CU you may find the only knock outs are 20mm blinds. (Or in some case you will need to cut your own holes...

    socket off light in loft

The problem with the socket is it will never be near enough to where you want to work ... and then you will end up using an extension lead!. I bought a lamp that works of my drill batteries for similar sorts of reason.

    New light - loop in

Sometimes that's quicker than making good the old mess. You can switch between the two systems provided you supply a perm live from the JB to the first loopin rose. When you mix systems though it is vital to check you have earth continuity and the neutral is dedicated to the lighting circuit.

    What Happens Here On P-Day?

jenki oh boy is confusion going to rein. If you do the work nobody including "Mr Niceic" or "Amicus Pro" can certify your work if you go the Building notice way without being appointed by the building inspector. In fact if Mr Niceic decides to do his own kitchen and is registered via a...

    New light - loop in

I think I follow. 1) If you have a JB system you may only have a switch L&N+E running to the rose. You need a perm live. 2) Strapper is 3c+e - follow ref section. 3) Change to 3G depends on if you can get the cable to the switch without damaging existing cable. Also best practice is to...

Electric Oven, Gas Hob & Hood

Search the electrics forum. This question has been asked quite often. However Put the cooker on the cooker circuit. 30Amps and 4 or 6mm cable should be ok. 5200 / 230 = 22.6 Cooker connection unit has switch and socket so Max demand allowing for diversity is 5 + 10 + (30%*12.6) =...

    Replacing Pipes

If the pipes are comming off all the time do you have a wet room? When was the bath fitted - if recently get the plumber back to fix. Are the pipes that come off short flexible pipes that go to the taps? If so these are sold in standard lengths and aren't cut. Therefore it will be the...

FITTING NEFF OVEN & SMEG HOB

Lots of recent cooker posts – do a search. You have two appliances hob at 6.6 and cooker at 5.1. We have harmonised with Europe and you must use 230v in the calculations. 6.6+5.1 = 11700w 11700w/230v = 50.8A. Allowing for diversity max demand is 10+(30% * 40.8) = 22.26A Therefore...

    socket off light in loft

If you add a socket you will need to check it will achieve a 0.4s disconnetion time. Fixed light circuits normally only need to do 5s. I'm guessing the Xmas lights are temporary? The transformer is inside and not placed on insulation? How will you functionally switch the circuit...

Two wires connected to the common, one to the live?

Were the cables "singles". I.e. they weren't sheathed in grey or white plastic? I'd guess they were either running two lights off the switch or they have looped the supply via the switch. In either case there is nothing wrong with this arrangement. You should also have an earth wire...
