best way to make polystyrene thickness with concrete screed

Thanks again for your time - was really starting to pull my hair out on this one! Ihave managed to chat to a very nice man from spring vale who set my mind at rest too - we just couldnt put a 1 tonne range on EPS 70 - would have to go up to 100 for that. s'ok though, cos we're not posh enough...

best way to make polystyrene thickness with concrete screed

oh bejeeses - please help - the more I look in to this the more confused I get!!!!! Trying to look up different compressive strengths of expanded, extruded, and PIR board - thought I had it then realised that some quote kPa to 1% and some to 10%...... And then I'm breaking out in a cold sweat...

best way to make polystyrene thickness with concrete screed

Also been reading other helpful posts, where some folks have got their knickers in a twizzle about 'load fatigue'... We coulg get EPS of 100kPa (designed for commercial and heavily trafficked floors for about £30 a sheet - would this be a good cheaper middle ground without having to fork out...

best way to make polystyrene thickness with concrete screed

Hi all - hoping to get a little more help... Have established that we can use 120mm EPS with a compression strength of 70 kPa, to keep down cost of insulating the new kitchen extension floor, to obtain u-value required. This allows us space to put in 80mm floating concrete screed above. If...

concrete floor and cellotex thickness query

many thanks for all your help mointainwalker - we have it in the bathroom - it heats the air aswell as it is higher voltage, which was what we were planning to use in the kitchen - but I will look in to it in more depth to check we are making the right decision, especially as we are on concrete...

concrete floor and cellotex thickness query

Thanks mointain walker Have you got the time to enlighten us on pro's and cons? Do you reckon we should drop the floor to allow for heat reflective very expensive board that they always try to flog you with elec ufh? Or is there a better idea. We know we def want ufh. Thanks

concrete floor and cellotex thickness query

Hi - thanks for your reponses - concrete oversite already down, so hardcore not an option - thanks though. The finishing screed will just be a latex one over the concrete, as we are laying electric UFH under lino - (antico or similar - so it's gotta be dead flat), so will only be a couple of...

concrete floor and cellotex thickness query

Hi all - just a quickie - got a 200mm depth to make up to floor height of existing building in new extension, on top of concrete oversite. Would you (from a cost/ hand mixing cement issue) go for thicker cellotex, or thicker concrete (only needed 75mm of each to satisfy building regs). What...

    removing large concrete lintel

Thanks for all your help - It's about 12" high - so would hate to put my other half in a comprimising position (! ) only to discover he couldn't support it - as it's much deeper than a standard modern concrete lintel. Looks like part breaking up in situ and sticking up a temporary stud...

    edz flashing with ashmore tiles

Thayts why I tinsnipped every alternate soaker in to 'decorative' curves -take it you don't approve! We think it looks attractive! The best thing about it is that we know that this 'double insurance' means that we are completetly waterproof. Will try to get a photo for you posted asap...
