    How to insulate walls

I've just been watching the celotex promo video for their insulated boards. They briefly mention putting cupboards ontop but don't expand on this. Is it possible to fix insulation directly to the wall somehow then mount cupboards ontop or do i really need a stud frame? Cheers

    How to insulate walls

Thanks, yeah the inspector has agreed to go down to 25mm insulation as the room is narrow but i'm trying to work out the best way to fix to the wall. If i need studwork, i may as well get insulation the same depth as studs.

    How to insulate walls

I about to insulate our 1960s leanto before installing a new kitchen. The walls are being rendered and tanking solution applied. I need a minimum of 25mm insulation. As far as i can tell i have 2 options: 1. dot and dab 2. Studwork I'm trying to find out which option is best for this...

    Uneven Floor

Just met the builder. He's going to sand down the lump in the floor to make it level...sounds ok. The dusty area he said was normal but i'm not convinced. Is it possible this just needs longer to cure given the cold weather. It's been 6 days and when brushed the surface in one part of the floor...

    Uneven Floor

Thanks...hence posting on here. I'm not sure what's standard for finishing a concrete floor. Should it be a perfectly level finish? Should it be screed over the top? Also noticed that in a few patches the surface is dusty. If i brush, it leaves marks on the floor. Does this mean it hasn't...

    Uneven Floor

Sorry for editting and reposting. This is what my builder said he would do: "break up floor area, hardcore with dolimite, damp proof membrane, insulation, concrete" He knows that I intend to tile, trouble is that some of the floor is uneven with lumps and bumps several mm and almost 1cm...

Thanks agains for everyone's help. I've emailed the builder who's assured me it's fine. Is this going to cause problems down the line...do you think the building inspector will pick up on this when he comes in this week?

    Water Pipes & Floor Regs

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with some advice. My builder has laid a new concrete floor. I've just noticed that he's set plastic water pipes into the concrete but I'm sure i've read somewhere that the regs specify that 'potable' water shouldn't be set in concrete floors. Is this right? If so...

    wall insulation

Thanks, can you direct me towards where the regs say i can improve another thermal element to make up?

    wall insulation

Thanks, just read that but i'm not sure that i would meet the criteria for a 'lesser standard'. I wouldn't be loosing 5% of floor space. However, crucially for me, i would be loosing enough to have to loose a small cupboard.

    wall insulation

Thanks for thr replies and clarification...ok that's interesting. I'm not sure which will be most workable then as the lowest part of the roof at the eaves is already going to be tight on height with an extractor.

    wall insulation

So here we go...getting frustrated with BC! I'm renovating a 1960s lean-to extension. I'm trying to achieve a much better thermal performance and keep the building inspector happy but finding this tough. He's approved new windows doors, floor, roof insulation. But the sticking point is the...
