    just above window height and that far across puts the damp patch inline with the edge of the fascia board, its hard to tell but is that mortar missing from between the bricks in that area? also get yourself in your loft and see if any wheres damp around that corner in case the flashing's leaking...

    gas fire chimney should really be lined because of fumes, and so should the wood burner one because it will get tar and soot build up, the opening will get narrower and there's a chance it will catch fire, so make sure its swept regularly.

    i would use a bag of quick setting floor and wall tile adhesive, the kind you mix yourself the fact that it dries quickly lets you crack on if your going to be mixing sand and cement like they used to do years ago (i think it was a very strong cement mix to make it so hard and sticky to use)...
