Garden Shredder - buy or hire?

I don't know if you watched the video for the electric one but while I like Bosch tools generally I was surprised by how much difficulty he seemed to be having shredding with it! Not used that one myself though.

Garden Shredder - buy or hire?

Not sure which one from HSS you are thinking of, but a few years ago I hired one of these: https://www.hss.com/g/62806/Portable-Chipper-Shredder.html It was terrible. Blades were effective enough at chipping (made lovely chippings/mulch) but I had to feed and poke everything through bit...

    best size for euro cylinder

Thanks for the link. In fact, I was looking to replace the preinstalled tat with those very cylinders (ABS)! Like you say they aren't cheap, which is why I'm taking extra care to get the right ones.

    best size for euro cylinder

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I'll go for like for like (50/50), though like phatboy I am curious as to why a couple of having it set a couple of mm back would be a problem? Especially as too much protrusion seems to be a no no.

    best size for euro cylinder

I am looking to replace the euro cylinder on a uPVC door. The one currently installed is 50/50 but it sticks out a bit on the outside (about 3mm). I know that protruding cylinders can be more vulnerable to attack. Is it best to replace it like for like, or with a 50/45, which would mean the...

    Choosing a builder/landscaper

If possible get someone who is recommended by someone you trust who has had similar work done. As you say, you've used these sorts of registers before and been disappointed.

Found a Water filled well / cess pit in the garden

Is it not just a regular drain? If so, and if it is shared between you and your neighbours, the water company will likely be responsible for unblocking it without charging you. It would be worth calling them to find out.

    pavers on mortar

If the bedding material isn't the issue, then it might be worth looking at bond bridges: http://www.pavingexpert.com/bond_bridge_01.htm You can get SBR at the likes of Toolstation and Screwfix.

    pavers on mortar

    pavers on mortar

Was the bedding mix dry? I would have had it wet to help the slabs stick: especially important on a slope. Some SBR would help too. I don't think just repointing, even wider, will do anything to help. In my experience of loose slabs (my own) the bedding is the problem not the pointing. If...

Garden Wall Project - help required

Wow. Probably. None of them are designed to stop slugs anyway. It's just, in my experience, a potential (but not guaranteed!!) beneficial side-effect.

Garden Wall Project - help required

I would use whatever I had available so long as it looked right. Gravel's gravel after all.

Garden Wall Project - help required

http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Pea-Shingle-Major-Bag/p/220128 I spread it about 2" thick, on landscape fabric. But I was trying to achieve something very different from keeping them out of the garden entirely. I have no idea how effective it may or may not be in your situation.

Garden Wall Project - help required

All I can say is that since I put my coldframe on a base of pea gravel I have had virtually no slug damage in there. They are rampant in the rest of my garden and I just accept that. As you suggest, whatever you do they will get in somewhere else anyway. Before you invest in timber and...

Garden Wall Project - help required

You can't slug proof a garden in the sort of way you envisage. If you could we would all be doing it. In my experience gravel goes some way to dissuading them.
