Why all the fuss about Keys and Gray?

I'm in aggreance that the source who disclosed the tapes should also be sacked, as he or she has brought the company into disrepute. Yes, it may have highlighted some slightly neanderthal attitudes, but they said what thousands of men have said or thought. Indeed, a mate said to me on Sunday...

Twitter, Facebook and IM - should I join?

Why, oh why, oh why...... (sounds like Points of view!!) It's a load of voyeuristic twaddle. My son, daughter and missus all 'use' Facebook, and for various reasons. My sons Blackberry is bleeping off the hook, apparently because every post on his FB account also goes to his phone. His reason...

    The Snip? advice needed

I had it done 12 years ago, in and out in ten minutes, the surgeon even showed me a section of the vas deferens that he cut out, pointing out that it was slightly 'furred up' (as he liked to put it!) and asked if I had any difficulties at childbirth with my man berries, which I did have :shock...

    Ceasing smoking...

When I first gave up, it did bother me to be near someone who smokes, but it doesn't now. My missus still smokes, albeit not half as many as she used to. I am asked if I find it more difficult with her smoking, but I don't go outside to smoke with her any more, so no. I must say though, that...

    Ceasing smoking...

I am over a year into giving up, but after the first 4 months I wondered if it was all worth it after wheezing and coughing up some really funky stuff!! Now though, I am breathing much better. The downside is that, like burnerman, I have put on around a stone and a bit, but that is purely...

    Sky HD in 2nd room

I do believe, in reference to your suggestion of the IR signal, you will still be able to utilise the RF cable to do this alongside the cat5 / HDMI cable setup. It will cost a bit to set it all up, and obviously a lot of cable running, but it is feasible. I'm in the process of researching it...

    Sky HD in 2nd room

I will be in the process of doing the same within the next week or two, and have come across HDMI adaptors which use cat 5e cable to do the long runs, as these can carry the data. Costs are between 50 and 100 pounds. http://www.cabling4less.co.uk/category.php?cat_id=153

How do I stop the water flow????!!

Because the water in the outside pipe is static, it will more than likely freeze no matter how many times you repair it. The ideal situation would be to isolate from inside your house until the weather improves. :)

    Fuel feast for the wealthy.

W66, my question was to ask, in general, if by being efficient in our energy usage, our small country would make a difference with regard to the big picture, i.e. when countries such as China are utilising most fuel sources, eating up every ounce of scrap metal, to produce somewhere more...

    Fuel feast for the wealthy.

Back to the OP, by saving energy, buying an energy efficient car, only switching lights on as required, and being a generally conscientious country we will save the planet? I know that the energy saving has to start somewhere, but why should we be the ones to take the moral high ground, but what...

    Wrong Lane

I have merely observed this, and yes, many people follow suit, which, as you quite rightly stated, creates the same delays. The last statement you made would be ideal in the real world........... Look at the news, that is our society.

    not another vertical rad problem......!!

These radiators are a pain, I have fitted a few, half have worked fine, the others have a flow issue, whereby one fin maybe cold, or the lower half of the radiator is hot, the upper half warm, with the rad air free. My opinion is that the manufacturing process may leave debris in the fins, which...

Corrosion inhibitor coming out of hot water taps?

That's probably the best bet I reckon.

    Danesmoor 15/19 Boiler Lockout

Fair point, doesn't make a DIYer an expert though. Just giving you a heads -up, there can be lots of other faults, but then if you knew what you were doing you wouldn't need to ask. Unfortunately the 'professionals' do sometimes need to be called in, even if it does cost more. But do crack on...

Corrosion inhibitor coming out of hot water taps?

I've been to a property in the past that had only one loft tank, which fed both domestic hot water and central heating!! He wondered why his hot water sometimes looked 'grey' !!

    Danesmoor 15/19 Boiler Lockout

Why not get the service engineer back to fix your fault? Simple answer I know, but sometimes, unless you know what you're doing, more problems can be created. Burners have only a few parts to them, but from your explanation it could be solenoid coil, the solenoid on the pump itself, a dirty...

Help Required with Washing Machine Valve Please

You're very thorough with your planning!! Pushfit fittings are fine, if the pipe has no burrs or scratches on it where the fitting will go, and the fitting is pushed on fully. With regard to the original fitting, the issue probably lay with the olive you cut off leaving an indent in the...

    Flow/return predicament

That is your answer. Have you worked out the heat losses, as adding these radiators may stretch your boilers capability, or have you allowed for this ?

    Santon unvented water tank

As an addendum, this would only happen in a poorly installed system, as all safety devices work to failure, then open. If there is a blockage in any of the safety pipework, then it's possible. Not normally otherwise.

    Wrong Lane

I don't think it is an offence is it? As long as you are on the roundabout you have right of way I would have thought. If I was in a hurry I'd do it too.
