    PART .P. ????

As a non-corgi plumber can I ask about whether or not the regulations stop me from wiring up an replacement electric shower (for example the old one snuffs it and I plumb a replacement). Obviously I follow all relevant principles and practises.

been on the dole 6 months no work in this game

Thermo, Sounds like you've experienced the same problems as I did. I provided the Yellow Pages with my own artwork, yet they went ahead with publishing their own and then wanted to charge me £80ish for the privilege. You're right in saying that the publication covers far to big an area. I...

been on the dole 6 months no work in this game

Chris, not sure that you'd remember my original post, let me re-cap. Basically, they sold me advertising space in the Leeds & Bradford books, as well as yell.com and talking pages (yes I can here you laughing already). Basically this cost me £2k, they then went about putting the wrong...

been on the dole 6 months no work in this game

Guys, I really don't wish to add fuel to the fire, firstly I still don't understand drip's original message, but what puzzles me even more is that he prefers to be on the dole for 6 months rather then earn £1000 a week? I am a plumber, been in business by myself for about 2 years, I work...

    STOPCOCK SIEZED

Wally, How old is the property, what type of property is it? If it's an old victorian terrace it could be that there is a means of turning off your supply at a neighbours house upstream. Mark

    The cost of labour

Guys, Yet another post....... Wonder if some of you professionals could offer me some advice. I'm a plumber in Leeds, who (on a regular basis) will pop to customer's homes at short notice. Tonight (Saturday 5pm) I was called to a house to fix a leak coming through the ceiling. I...

    12mm copper

Hadn't realised that BES sold it in such small amounts. Think I'll get it ordered in the next day or so. Cheers Mark

    12mm copper

Thanks for the replies guys. It's not 12mm flexi tap tails I'm looking for, it's simply 2 small lengths of pipe that connect the tap heads to the spout (each needs to be approximately 12cm long). The connections between the heads and spout are 1/2". Flexi tap connectors are just too long...

    12mm copper

It's a no can do. The length of the pipe needs to be about 120mm long and requires a slight bend. Using reducers would not allow this.

    12mm copper

Guys, Trying to fit a 3 hole basin mixer for a customer, unfortunately the pipework connecting the taps to the spout are slightly too short. I believe it's 12mm copper, been to all my usual merchants but had no luck what-so-ever. Do any of you guys have a spare half metre or so I can...

    Best tool for blocked toilets

Chris, It's the 2nd one down, sorry thought I'd given a specific product there! I like the look of the rothenberger tool, I'll speak to my local merchant about it. From experience is it able to clear blockages further down the line? I noticed Pulsar Direct sell one just like the Super...

    Best tool for blocked toilets

Guys Wonder if some of you fellow plumbers would be able to offer me some advice. As a plumber operating in inner city Leeds I am quite often asked to unblock WCs in office blocks, while most of these do not pose too many problems (where blockages are usually local to the pan) there are...

    Liability for burst expansion vessel

Boiler was an ICI Caldaie 80E, installed in '96. The radiator I fitted was a replacement for one that was on another wall, I plumbed an additional radiator for them in a cloakroom (part of the same job), this had been fit prior to me arriving. Not sure if this additional information helps...

Can't say for sure but I think there would have been between 10 and 12, can I ask why?

    Liability for burst expansion vessel

Guys The customer has since had a new boiler fitted by BG!!!! I'm to get the bill. I've taken legal advice, he has sent the customer a letter asking for details of previous service information as well as stating the obvious - the boiler was 8 years old and parts quite commonly fail...

FAO Regulars: Freezing of 8mm - 28mm pipework

I have had the Rothenberger Rofrost CO2 kit and now have their electric one. CO2 freezer froze pipework a lot quicker but was unreliable. Furthermore it was expensive to run. I'd advise never to buy one of these, they are a complete headache. In the end I took it back to the merchant and...

    Water Regulations & Washing Machines

Guys and Gals Apologies if I've posted on the wrong forum. Spoke to a customer today who requested that I paid a visit to her house. She had a washing machine delivered by Currys the other day. Upon delivery she was told that they would not plumb it in due to the waste pipework being too long...

    Liability for burst expansion vessel

Hi guys, Sorry for the delay in replying, problems connecting to the Internet. Customer sent me a letter the other day suggesting that an independent heating engineer I contacted was a mate and that I was stitching him up. I'm sick of trying to help this guy as he has been aggressive and...
