Little update. I continued taking off remainder of lining from around chimney breast & this is what's left. Ideally i would like to paint it without lining paper on but would i have to remove every speck of paint? If i could how would i proceed with it? If not, is it lining paper again. Cheers

Cheers Wayners, started using duck tape & worked a treat. Unfortunately it's given me another problem. Didn't realise it at first but walls have been lined horizontally as some of the paper started coming off. Can i work around with what i have removed so far or would it all have to come off...
