If I want to move an internal stud wall and create a new doorway in a top floor flat, do I need to get approval from the Council's Building Services department?
Essentially, I have a galley kitchen that opens onto the lounge that I want to turn into a bathroom that opens onto the hall. So it...
You need to get this right before it dries. Once paper soaked in adhesive dries it'll be pretty stiff and curled away from the wall; getting it to stick down then will be virtually impossible. Superglue is the only thing I've found that will rescue this situation once it's gone wrong.
I'm not clear why you need this very technical solution...
Have you tried printing out the sheets, holding one on top of the other against the window?
It seems you are reinventing the wheel and over-engineering the solution, both at the same time.
yes it is.
you're quite, quite wrong. your'e also a very rude and unpleasant and almost certainly friendless cretin
do you think I'm talking about fitting a shower? have you bothered to read the thread, or look at the pics??
or are you too busy looking in the mirror and laughing at...
Glad you're sorted Graeme. For future reference (like when this happens to someone else who is searching for help!)...
... if your computer comes with a Rescue Disk to reinstall the Operating System, you can run it without jeopardising your own data and files. You mustn't format the drive...
I dont' run Vista, but have heard it has all the usual teething problems. Whenever a new Microsoft operating system comes out it's always really buggy for a while.
In the meantime can I suggest you stop using Explorer?
Go to the Mozilla Firefox website and download Firefox. It's an...
Incidentally - they were both replacements, not brand new sockets. No new wiring required to be laid, no new additions to the fusebox. Just... a switch.
:D
Sigh. Can you explain this comment?
I asked a perfectly polite and sensible question and I have explained carefully about the background, including what other trades in this area charge.
If all any of you can come out with is snitty little comments then frankly, why don't you just step...
Don't reckon who did an IR test? Removing what lamps? And yes, it's just a switch. Like I keep saying - I did the next one myself. It took me twenty minutes too.
I don't think you've read the thread. But thanks for your input anyway.
If you lot are trying to justify a call out fee of - lets say £100 and an hourly rate of, let's say, another £100 then you're barking up the wrong tree.
You are perhaps all based in Dubai. I live in Glasgow.
My plumber - who is excellent - charges call out and first hour at £40.
My...
Ah yes, sorry, I didn't explain that part, did I?
I'm also swapping over the bedroom and lounge, as they are the wrong way just now.
There is currently a gas fire in the lounge - soon to be bedroom. But not in the bedroom - soon to be lounge.
Paperwork time?? Seriously, what on earth do you think I'm talking about? Because whatever it is, it doesn't generate hours of paperwork. It's a switch. A very simple switch.
I have since installed one of these myself in ten minutes, including drinking tea on the job.
£150 for one...
No, you've misunderstood.
You know the bit of string in the bathroom that you pull to make the shower work? That switch. Wiring it in is slightly more complicated than wiring a plug, but only slightly.
I know. I did the one in the hall for the main bathroom myself. I just couldn't do...
No, I don't sand it because it would be soul-destroying. I hate sanding! Where there is unevenness I do, but not all over.
And yes, undercoat for gloss paint is best. Emulsion and stuff chips off easily, and if you've painted over it then it chips off with all your painting on top. Not...
I had a very similar sounding problem when I was replacing all the switches in my flat, including changing some from doubles to singles.
This is what I learned: YOU CANNOT REWIRE AN OLD HOUSE OVER THE INTERNET.
If you think you can work through the steps yourself, and you have an...
I needed a shower switch replacing - the string had jammed so the water wouldn't come on. I bought the switch myself but couldn't fit it because the wiring was a bit tight.
They were quoting me in the range of £150 to come round and do something that would take half an hour - and I'd already...
