So called trades people who do work like this should not be near any tools, theres no way he is a carpenterthats even a ****e diyer you need to get your money back.
They do look different sizes some of the old flexi pipes where slightly bigger especially on older machine,s i kow you said it was a tight fit but is there no way you can by a washing machine waste pipe extension kit which comes with a jointing piece, then its all new and same size.
The water...
Are you talking about the actual ribbed waste pipe on the washing machine, i take it that is the one you have extended why can,t you just install the machine like for like.
Pictures would be good if you can.
Andy.
Just replace the the old valve with the new one using the old nut and olives PTFE will be fine but do it around the olives not the thread, nuts should be same size half inch BSP.
Andy
I used to hate fitting those wall hung basin,s customers never thought where the pipes would go stud walls are ok coz you can just cut a section out and replace afterwards, best bet is build a stud wall if its possible.
could you take the pipe work off after the stop cock and put a pressure gauge on so you have a starting point and make sure the pressure is ok, then you could put the pressure gauge on the pipe work after the stopcock and see the difference, it gives you something to work from.
It sounds like they have reduced the size of the incoming water mains somewhere or from the incoming mains to the island, if the pressure was ok before they moved the mains it has to be something to do with it.
