    Looks like asphalt to me same as what was used in most terraced house,s when people wanted to lay lino or oilcloth as it was self leveling, ish you prob find there are stone flags underneath it, which were not even enough to lay onto. Hope this helps. Andy.

    All depends how much you have to do it will be more expensive with no more nails dot and dab is the best way and it wont come off, its specially designed to create a suction on the board, it can be messy but once its done it will be solid. Andy.

    Why not just use plaster board screws i we just use 35mm collated in the screw gun but you can use single screws, they will be fine even on fireboard which is 30.7kg. Andy.
