    Behind the plate should be three wires, probably: Red - Live Black - Neutral Green and Yellow sleeved copper - Earth Put these in the terminals as marked, although any socket you might buy today will probably be marked:- Brown - Live Blue - Neutral Green and Yellow - Earth Just...

    Yeah, ok. Even weatherproof can get damp as a result of condensation build up. I totally agree that the RCD should be there for safety's sake, but you might want to set up some sort of no-volt/supply failed alarm for the RCD as a whole, or even just for the fishtank. I can't help but protest...

    The shed supply doesnt have to be RCD's only sockets that might reasonably supply outdoors equipment. Supply the shed/garage/whatever with appropriate overcurrent protection but not RCD, then stick a split load board on the other end (bit overkill) or just make sure the sockets you put in...

    So when your damp outside socket trips the RCD and all your fish die, you'll hard wire the fish equipment onto the non RCD side of the new split load board? :twisted:
