That solder is multicore, its for sparky's
So no flux needed then on the fittings? or is it a belt and braces approach with a little dab of Laco afterwards?
It's strange that some of us managed perfectly well with FULL FAT proper leaded solder for many years without any problems?
Yes, most of us had to make the transition over to using both, Full Fat for heating and lead free for potable etc when the water police may have been watching...
Yorkshire fittings have lead free solder within the fitting.
The last thing you want to do is introduce leaded solder into the fitting, leaded solder and lead free solder have different melting points.
Laco flux  try Everflux :D
Try giving the pump a few 'smart taps' with a small hammer on the pump body! and not the plastic bit! when the heating is on, it may only be jammed?
That pump is unlike modern ones and the impeller is not directly driven by a motor. The head of the pump is an electromagnet that spins a non...
Observations from the picture!
The float has been butchered on to the ball valve arm on entirely the wrong part of it!
The vent pipe looks like it is submerged.
And whats with the oversize of the overflow outlet?
Connect the blocked pipe to the garden hose and try running water back up the other way.
Probably best to part drain the system first and leave the drain off open when trying it.
I would assume that its a manual air vent probably fitted? Have you tried releasing any air, with a radiator key probably if not you may need a screwdriver, I couldn't tell you for sure without seeing the vent valve.
One thing that you could try is running the heating for a couple of hours...
It sound like a typical gravity hot water and pumped heating system using a back boiler.
This air release valve that he fitted? I assume he fitted it next to the hot water cylinder?
It could be an air locked coil on the cylinder again.
Could you post a picture of this valve that the...
Just out if interest. what is the make and model of this twenty year old unserviced boiler please?
I'm guessing that a few of us on here maybe familiar with it and give you an honest opinion about it.
Not at all, I do not agree about dodgy reviews, well not on CAT.
I'm pretty sure that if you do the job properly, charge a reasonable price etc.
My current client score is a perfect 10 out of 10 on the Guildford , Surrey, page one on CAT.
Some of us on here are on Checkatrade.
Some of us on here are decent engineers that do not like paying out to the likes of Rated people/ Yell.com / Servicemagic / Boiler guide / quotatis ETC.
I've only been registered with CAT for about two years now and realistically its by the far...
It looks like the wiring is incorrect at the programmer.
assuming the tempus 7 programmer has an industry standard backplate.
Please mark on your diagram the output numbers on the backplate to the relevant wires leaving it.
To quote you Shepworth "I wonder if whoever fitted it did it on purpose so someone would have to be called out"
Its obviously a system boiler with the presence of a PRV outlet clearly visible from the picture, also another MV is missing from the pic.
Good luck hunting for the filling loop...
Just looked at the pic again!
So yes it is a CDI, what threw me was the WB juniors don't have a full metal wall back plate the CDI does.
The CDI in the picture is supplied with a lower rear wall support bracket and also a gas inlet support bracket, for some reason they have not been fitted?
