    forget looking in the boiler manual, the gas valve that you are stating is NOT! the problem with your system. the motorised valves will normally sited next to the pump.

    sounds like a faulty microswitch or actuator on the central heating zone valve,or a partially seized ch zone valve body.

    get the rgi back and ask him to test if the aps has stuck on open circuit,also ask him to test the boiler stat for continuity across it terminals. in my opinion these are pretty basic faults that are easy to test,why have three engineers failed? :roll:

    if the boiler is 15 to 20 years old it may not be suitable for a sealed system.

    are you using the head supplied with it? a different head will not slow the flow down enough to heat the water.

    can't you just slice a slot into the bottom tile with a small grinder,that way the wall rail will fit flush to the wall

    is water flowing out of the vent pipe when the pump is turned up? if thats so ,you have a problem with the layout of the feed and vent where it connects to the system. a system that is pumping over will sludge up very quickly. sounds like that is why the system needed cleaning in the first place.

    there should be a external bypass fitted to this boiler,has it been closed? this would give the problems you are describing.
