    Right to buy

I'll bear that in mind 8) However , I didn't say that all, or millions of the RTBs were repossessed. I said some people died before they retired (and this could not have used their house to pay for retirement), and some RTB homes were repossessed. You're not disputing the above, surely?

    Right to buy

    1. Some people die before they retire 2. Some people had their RTB homes repossessed Edit-I'll look for figures but in 2009 RTB were twice as likely to have difficulties paying their mortgage, with about 10% of them in difficulty. Source-Consumer Focus

Obviously someone who was dying for a colleague to ask him why , so he could make the Bob Marley joke.

    Right to buy

Yes it did, and fair play to them. However, the RTB was still subsidised by taxpayers. And many who did buy still end up without the asset on retirement, and still needing support by the state in final years. Or they die before needing to get care, and the asset is moved on to someone...

    Right to buy

The original RTB was a political decision, not an economic one. Subsidising housing made no sense when the councils were then banned from spend the proceeds on more housing. Supply and demand for me, with a big enough social housing stock for those that really need it, not just those that...

    Farage this morning

It may be counter intuitive , but perhaps a very low UKIP vote will make a referendum more likely as the govt would see it as less likely to risk an EU exit, while placating the press etc?

I was joking...my missus says the same thing to me after an alcohol induced mishap - in the smug, sarcastic manner if someone who knows full well it is of no help at all.

    The Boat Race(s)

It's the case in schools now that schools do competitive sports, contrary to populate belief but 1) children don't do much informal sport 2) many teachers don't have time /too much red tape to do more inter school competition I do think we are less fit though. As for the oarsmen...

    Time to scrap Trident.

:D Or buy out Sellafield, rebrand it, take their identity and then call them selves MK Fielders : and use the core they have purloined to make nuclear weapons at a huge profit, while Sellafield locals have to to start out from scratch with a coal fire to heat up the kettle.

    A Really Ridiculous Statement

Probably more to do with relaxing litigation regulations? Not sure when the dumbing down started but as far as I can see successive govts have made a mess of education. Now they are on about testing 4 year olds. Sweet Lord.

    The Boat Race(s)

I believe that the national squad don't like this race as it interferes with their training programme for international events and qualifiers. Also I imagine there is a high percentage of foreign students at those Universities?

    The Boat Race(s)

I think the Grand national beats the talk/event ratio. But perhaps the Men's Olympic 100m is the winner?
