If you were changing your "2nd" car now what would you buy?

Potentially going EV shortly. Current car does 40mg and costs me about two grand a year in fuel and tax (10k). EV would cost me about £160 in electric so there is a saving to be made. Values of EV seem to fall rapidly so depreciation is a concern. If I'm saving circa 2k per year in running costs...

    How to remove sink nuts

The two copper pipes (hot and cold tails) are connected to another pipe below the image. Remove that connection and they should twist off anti clockwise. They shouldn't be too tight. If you are trying to remove the nut at the top of the tails it won't move as integrated into the pipe

    How to remove sink nuts

Do you mean the threaded nut or the tails. To remove the tails remove the connection from below the image and then twist them off Looks like you have to get the tails off anyway to get to the nut

How much MOT Type 1 do I need? Circular patio area.

Recycled is a bit of a lottery. I had some that had a knife and fork in and an old sock :) For a patio it should be ok though. Are you using a whacker plate to compact it down?

How much MOT Type 1 do I need? Circular patio area.

It's best to get it loose dropped off the back of a truck if you have somewhere to put it and have good access. Makes shovelling it easier and usually cheaper The truck would drop 6 tonnes at once. If buying in bulk bags it would probably be 8 bags as they are under a tonne usually Bags are...

How much MOT Type 1 do I need? Circular patio area.

The area would be 25.5 sq m so use 13 x 2 on your calculator. Looks like 6 tonnes?

Solar mounts on an EPDM flat roof

I now that some campervans just have these glued on the roof so may be an option as long as it won't react to the rubber. Are all walls on the garage seen?

    Using CLS timber for shed

Could you not build it in sections in your garage and then bolt it all together outside. I built a small shed like this and it was all framed clad and painted in sections

    Plasterboard direction on pitched roof

Thanks woody. Is this just a stronger fixing rather than overlapping a join up the rafter, can the 50mm go in the same direction/joins? Also, would you put a vapour barrier under the insulation or will foil tape across all joins be adequate Thanks again, you've helped me out a bit on here!

    Plasterboard direction on pitched roof

Hi Just about to plasterboard out a vaulted ceiling Distance from wall plate to ridge is 2.1m. Would I be best having a vertical join every 1200mm (boards sitting vertically from wall plate) or have the boards join at 1200 half way up the roof. Got 100mm in between the joists and 50mm over...

Plumbing to an outside water feature

Top it up with a bucket if it ever needs it but rain water should keep it topped up. T&E is twin and earth electrical cabling. You will need to power a pump somehow to circulate the water. Any photos of where it's going?

    Postcrete for brick laying?

Do you mean cement rather than postcrete? If only doing 7 bricks you should be ok without any additive. Mortar plasticiser is used to keep the mortar usable for longer 4 parts sand, 1 part cement, splash of plasticiser You'll probably only need 1 bucket of mix

    How best to level this?

If you are bedding on sand cement you can level as you lay it down if not to off level. Try and build up the ditch as much as possible first

When you want to alter what's on planning permission

I changed a window to a french door on mine and was fine. As long as it doesn't change the footprint or impact on neighbours you should be ok and you're making it smaller not bigger I'd just email the planners and say what you'd like to do and can you submit a non material amend.

When you want to alter what's on planning permission

Search for non material amend. It'a for small amends to plans that don't need new applications. From memory it's about £40 and then they just approve quite quick if all ok
