    Noisy CH pipework

In spring we had a problem with banging/clattering around the air separator/cold water inlet pipework. Used some boiler noise reducer throughout the summer, the system was running daily for HW and no noises. On starting the CH & HW to check it out before winter there was no improvement, noises...

    3 port valve reversed?

Checked with M/meter. 230v was on the white when stat was off but not when stat was on. But just checked lever positions and they agree with your post. Not sure how to go now. Duplicate post deleted (I hope) Edit. Please ignore all above, I mistook the grey for neutral, very dark...

    3 port valve reversed?

Thanks I seem to have failed to delete as I thought and made a second post. Sorry

    3 port valve reversed?

When I shut down the central heating (HW still on) using the room thermostat, the 3 port v/v lever moves to the mid position. I have read that the HW only position should be right over (lever floppy) Does this indicate my wiring is reversed? If so does it matter? Thanks for any wise words.

    Installed new TRV- Kettling

PS should have said before, I had Sentinel x400 circulating all through December and drained off/flushed early Jan. Flush consisted of fill and drain twice Magnet did stick to separator before but not now.

    Installed new TRV- Kettling

Hello again Stu, Thanks for your advice again. Pump is alongside the boiler level with the heat exchanger. Air separator is 6" above top of boiler, It's a Myson aerjec II, I've had a close look at it and the connections don't match any of the layouts suggested on their leaflet (20yrs old!) The...

    Installed new TRV- Kettling

Thanks Gasmanstu. I'm reluctant to drain down t the moment as I already have 2 litres of cleaner in the system (3 weeks) It's only the No nonsense stuff from Screwfix, is that any good or should I try Sentinel/Fernox? I'll try altering pump speed and boiler stat first.

    Any suggestions please?

    Installed new TRV- Kettling

Sadly no different with the head off the TRV. Perhaps it's not kettling, It makes violent noises which appear to come from the Myson Aerjec which is about 12" from the boiler and is fitted sideways. (I've been told that is OK.) The pipework around Aerjec bangs and moves a bit. The 1/2"...

    Installed new TRV- Kettling

Hi All My system is microbore 9 single rads, Gloworm fuelsaver. Myson aereject. All the rads on microbore have TRVs. So a low volume system. The bathroom rad is on 1/2" pipe and didn't have TRV until a friend ( a plumber) advised me to fit a TRV when I could. This rad is directly above the...

Glowworm fuelsaver- RGI has given up

Hi Breadnbutter, RGI arrived on time and took 40 mins to diagnose fan windings breaking down, confirmed with Glowworm. He's gone away to order one, hope he finds one. Thanks to all who responded.

Glowworm fuelsaver- RGI has given up

I appreciate what you're saying, but when I first talked about the fan I had little idea about the sequence of things. Now that I have listened carefully to things happening, I'm sure it goes like this.External timer & roomstat calling for heat, Power on, Boiler stat at max, pump at max, pump...

Glowworm fuelsaver- RGI has given up

I did think this was the case but difficult to get outside at the right moment, could have been residual steam rather than fan blowing it. Got a second RGI coming this afternoon, hope he can throw more light on the situation.

RGI said 240v, & fan not spinning. I'm not so sure.

Glowworm fuelsaver- RGI has given up

Hi Tony, thanks for your reply, Looked at the specs of the pump. It's Grundfos alpha (not 2) 15-60 130mm. It says automatically variable - could that be why my finger stopped it? What FAQ do you mean please. Later- found FAQ. Pump was easy to stop- bad sign?

Glowworm fuelsaver- RGI has given up

Hi Slugbaby, you were up early, or was it to bed late? Anyway thanks for your input. Bearing in mind what Dan has posted this morning, the easiest thing to eliminate is the pump so I guess doing that before sweating out the air seperator is the way to go?

Glowworm fuelsaver- RGI has given up

Thanks for that Slugbaby, A fairly powerful magnet sticks anywhere on the Aerjec, I guess take it out and fit new is better than trying to clean it out? What is the reasoning behind that test? Oxides from the rads? Added later- Magnet also sticks to the pipework in that general area...
