No, as stated above it will be used fir storage. At a later point in years to come a dormer can be added and solid stairs can be added.

But the alterations are being done for storage not a living space. I don't think approval for that, yes i may be strengthening the floor with the joists and have a loft ladder but there will be no window. So i don't see what is so dodgy about what I'm doing, maybe an overkill but certainly not...

I have installed a loft ladder which will suffice for now. As for the chimney breast I was hoping to do the same and add hangers into the brickwork.

Some of the things you guys are telling me goes over my head. The easier way may well be to drill in a beam to bith walls and hang the joists off them.
