Hi, Need some sharp sand for laying a brick course over. There's already a bag of sand in the corner of the garden left over from another job, but the bag just says "sand". There is a (grading?) number on the sack, S04/11P. Any ideas please - is this sharp or soft sand or how can I tell...

Hi, Here's what's round the back - are these also taps please? What also worries me are these other connections lower down behind the machine, any ideas - Hopefully, these are drainers & not plumbed into the mains supply? Thanks

That's a 'daisy wheel' but no-one knows where the name came from, just 'daisy' + 'wheel'. That's a very odd daisy wheel as well, it's been scribed with something like you say, but it's not at all accurate. It's quite easy to draw a daisy wheel with a geometry compass so why this person got it...

Might those 'v' marks have been made with the (sharp) tip of this plumber's pipe reamer?

Thanks, Gussage St Michael, the church is still in use but Gussage is and was always a small hamlet, so not a great deal of activity. I would imagine holy water would be put in a small container inside the font because of the lead lining. But those funny 'v' shapes - making those snaky lines...

Yep, I was certain it was coming in under the lintel - well some of it was - but apparently there's a new air brick on the market, it's called a water brick :-o anyway, i guess i need to wait for some decent weather to dry the wall out before i start slapping on sealant paint? Never...

I bought that EvoStick sealant and squeezed it liberally into the gaps in the brickwork. It actually staunched the flow for a day, then the flood gates opened again :( So I thought I'd better fix up some interior guttering - then I noticed damp was getting elsewhere, actually coming through...
