    Kitchen lighting query

You should find something to meet your needs here: http://www.screwfix.com/c/electrical-lighting/kitchen-cabinet-lighting/cat5230041 There are several all inclusive packs of three - even triangular ones. Just be mindful that some of these are mains voltage and some have LED drivers. You cannot...

    Radial Circuit - Comments pleas

Well actually you did also ask about certification - several times and I did say you are not complying with the regulations. Careful now you're contradicting your previous and next statement. Sure you are - everything you have said proves that.

    Radial Circuit - Comments pleas

I think this is most frustrating thing about your post(s) - You are still not listening to what is being said or probably you do not want to hear what is being said. So I will try again. This is predicated on the belief that this is a new circuit as per your drawing and putting aside all the...

    Dimplex Towel Rail not working

As far as I can tell from the instructions you do not need the temperature controller (TC) (dimmer). For simplicity (and safety) use a terminal strip to replace the TC and cover with a blanking plate. Then use your Switched FCU to control the on/off.

    Radial Circuit - Comments pleas

No it doesn't. How did you comply with Part 6? As has already been stated the diagram is a radial final circuit - though no self respecting electrician would introduce additional terminations into a circuit without good excuse. However, your installation will not pass LABC inspection. Still...

    Radial Circuit - Comments pleas

What do you mean by IT earthing system? What were your test results - did they meet the criteria laid down by BS7671. Who is going to certify it? How do you intend to test the RCBO? Methinks you don't really have a clue what you are doing because who would introduce additional terminations into...

    Radial Circuit - Comments pleas

If this is a new circuit then you will need to notify your Local Authority Building Control before you begin work. If you use junction boxes they must be accessible. For a new radial circuit you do not need junction boxes -you should use the sockets as junction boxes - this will give you...

Quick question on fitting a pendant light in my bedroom

I assume that either you have a junction box with your other cables inside the ceiling void or that your switch live/neutral and earth have come directly from your switch.

Can you tell me what this is, please?

Not disagreeing with TTC view but don't telephone wire junction boxes tend to be push fit - rather than screw in. It could also be a JB for part of an alarm system - if you have one - had one.

Same LABC registration process applies with Gas Safe.

    Installation rules regarding Part P

Okay so you have the EIC. And NICEIC have effectively stated your electrics have been installed correctly. The key thing is that you should receive the Building Control Registration Notice within a few weeks. If not you should chase it up with NICEIC. This is the most important document since...

    Installation rules regarding Part P

If Building Control were not involved in the refurbishment then it is of no concern to them. The person who certified the work is responsible for registering the completed work with your Local Authority Building Control through his/her Competent Persons Scheme. Whether that is legal is really...

    Electrical Certificate and My electrician

Not just any Electrician but anyone. If he is not registered with a Scheme then he cannot register the work - but he should supply you with an Electrical Installation Certificate at the very least. If the work has been registered with the LABC then the Scheme will forward you a copy of the...

    13 amp / 2.9 KW Hob installation on a 13 amp plug?

Here is a quote from the guidance: Excluded from the regulations.... Any appliance which is intended to be permanently connected to the fixed wiring of the mains system other than by means of a plug and socket. My reading of the MI specifically mentions the plug, IMHO, they should...

    13 amp / 2.9 KW Hob installation on a 13 amp plug?

In which case they should have supplied the hob with a 'suitable plug' as per DTi guidance.

    13 amp / 2.9 KW Hob installation on a 13 amp plug?

Just checked the manual and it is a two ring hob - MI's say connect with a 'suitable plug' - which could of course mean a 13Amp UK plug or a European version which I think is rated higher. For the OP ring up the customer service of manufacturer and ask them.

    Power Cable to summer house

The electrician should have designed the circuit, worked out the load, voltage drop, earthing arrangement etc and provided you with the size of the cables required. He should also have told you where and how deep to dig the channel for the cable and how much to leave open for inspection. This...

    Extending Loft Lighting

As others have said adding lights from the existing ceiling rose (light) is fine - However!! You say that your loft has socket cables which enter a grey junction box and the light cable (assuming L/N/E) comes out of this to the switch and then (SL/N/E) to the light itself. No mention is made of...
