Maybe... it wasn't cut by the builder at all, maybe that's how it arrived. Or, maybe the OP's clumsy builder intercepted this pan and cut the back out of it too?

It shouldn’t leak out of the casing. I’d have it apart and check everything is in properly.

Seen them do it from new. My guess is the top part hasn’t clicked in properly.

Pop the flush valve out. It's sometimes a grotty seat/washer. Sometimes the mechanism doesn't retract properly after a flush. Also had them where the plastic grid at the top isn't fitted properly so valve won't seat.

Is it water running down the pan all the while?

You can’t DIY an f gas installation so what sort of answer did you expect? Won’t do you any good getting all wound up, maybe you could use those spare gauges to check your blood pressure?

F gas course is around £1500, that might help you read the gauges properly. (y)

Bigger cylinders take longer to recover unless you have a boiler to suit. As Dan has already said, get someone in to advise you.

I have a customer with an ariston direct uv cylinder. Every 3 or 4 years we take the immersion heater out and Hoover the scale flakes out with a wet vac. You won't get the walls of your cylinder clean by using a descaling solution, but if you can empty any scale build up out which will encrouch...
