    Cylinder wiring

A photo of the connections might help. I'm not sure what to backplate is - what should happen when it is depressed?

Weather bar strip for under door.

There are some more thresholds here: https://www.toolstation.com/search?q=Threshold They all need at least 13mm below the door, so the door would need taking off, planeing to size and re-painting. A weather bar/rain deflector would direct and water running down the door onto the sloping part of...

Weather bar strip for under door.

That would help, as would fitting a weather bar to stop the rain getting underneath. How big is the gap between the bottom of the door and the sill?

    Print from 2 laptops

If restarting the spooler manually isn't helping then it sounds unlikely that doing it automatically will have a different effect. Someone the canon forum having a similar problem says there is a canon wifi connection assistant which can be downloaded. That might help if it is still available...

Install the software (drivers) on the second laptop: Follow the instructions which relate to a computer rather than the physical printer.

    Loft insulation advice

As far as I know there shouldn't be a problem as long as the weight of the insulation isn't causing stress on the cables. There are legs for sale to raise the level of the loft boards, or you can add joists in the opposite direction, or a combination of both.

    Puncture repairs

If there is a puncture outside the tread then it needs a vulcanised repair. Most places don't have the equipment or want to send the tyre away to get it done.

    Cat5 what router?

This might be a bit basic for the network people, but I would test it with a multimeter: Connect (short) the connections on the plug at one end, then measure the resistance between every connector at the other. If there is a bad connection somewhere then you will get different readings for some...

    Dust allergy during building work?

Are you able to fit a temporary door/sheet of plywood or similar? If you are, once it is held in place, tape around the edges with masking tape to seal any gaps.

Crazy electric bill - commercial premises (1)

1 unit is 1kWh, whereas you put kW in your posts (maybe unintentional). It isn't a big difference, but you have to be careful with some of the awkward souls working for the energy companies. If you say you are using 10kW a day there is probably someone out there daft enough to think you mean...

Crazy electric bill - commercial premises (1)

Your meter does have 'x10' displayed on the right hand side, but will no decimal point it is making the readings 10 times higher than they should be. It looks like someone has configured the meter wrong - the difficulty is proving it. Surely you meter reading of 007082 is a 6 digit reading...

Indoor v outdoor fairy lights / Christmas lights.

Thanks. The gaps look the same on all the sets, but there could be glue further up. I want two sets for outdoors, so I think I will be keeping my eye out for another set that says they are for outdoors.

Indoor v outdoor fairy lights / Christmas lights.

I was wondering how feasible this would be. I'm sure I can suitably protect the battery box, but not so sure how the LEDs would stand up to the weather. How can you tell they are waterproofed connections? Both have similar looking shrink wrap or similar around them: the outdoor ones are white...

Indoor v outdoor fairy lights / Christmas lights.

In the photo are some led lights I have. They have all been used outside (not by me) and still work. However, the set on the right have a sealed battery holder a with an IP65 rating and the other 2 are standard indoor battery holder. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is the only...

How to get the sticky label off a chopping board?

I would suggest 'clean and dust' or multi surface cleaner spray and keep scraping. - I'm not sure how food safe it would be after washing though.

    Cat5 what router?

I can't find how far the range should/could be on these. You could plug one in at the end of your house closest to the garden room, then walk towards your garden room with your phone and see how far away you are when you lose connection. That will give you an idea if wireless would work.

    Cat5 what router?

Your Cat5e ethernet cable has an internet connection, so if you plugged into the ethernet port on a laptop or smart TV then that would work. I sounds like you need some way of making the connection wireless. () Did you use any cables to connect the mesh system?

RJ11 cable faulty - how to detect

The socket is working as it should. I used a different router for a couple of days while I waited for the new one to arrive. Before I swapped to the new router I tested the temp router with the old RJ11 cable and it wouldn't connect. The plugs look fine.

RJ11 cable faulty - how to detect

A question out of curiosity: During the recent thunderstorms, my router & RJ11 cable got damaged and stopped working - I've now got a new router ad all sorted. However, the RJ11 cable was not working when I used it with a temporary router... But, when I test the cable with a multi-meter I...

rusty old nails from the pallets

I get them out with a combination of a crow bar, claw hammer and sacrificial block of wood and most stay straight enough to reuse. They are usually ring shank nails which don't vibrate loose, but can be very stubborn. Any which aren't straight enough or the heads aren't good will go for scrap.
