Traditional boiler - switch between hot water only and heating and hot water?

Would be more beneficial to upgrade the controls to offer greater flexibility. As to your question, it is more beneficial as it is as you are only turning 1 ancient valve as opposed to maybe 8 to 12 depending on the amount of radiators you have. The less valves that are touched, at that age...

    Nest, Hive etc etc

How is this not a public forum? Or are you saying the one that was done was not a public forum? If the latter then no charges could be brought as they would have to sign up to the terms and conditions of the site whilst providing proof of competancy to be a member as some of us do here. Did...

    I am not a plumber for a start.....but

Yeah that's always the way! A lot more thought has to go into press fit to make sure that you can always get int to crimp them or do them out of position. Jon

    I am not a plumber for a start.....but

Do you mean the Kee Clamp fittings? If so then they are an entirely different beast to using copper as a frame. Pushfit fittings will all rotate. The only other option would be to hire a pressfit gun and use mapress/gerbrit press fittings. These are quick and secure but again they are high cost...

    I am not a plumber for a start.....but

They do go in all the way to the tee same as usual fittings it's just deceptive the way the shoulders look. Still wouldn't use the stuff though. Jon

    I am not a plumber for a start.....but

@Dan Robinson These are the ones with the teeth that grip the pipe. There is a slight gap between the pipe and fitting that you slide the tool in to lift the teeth. Jon

    Glow worm climapro rf question/help.

You have a pairing issue between devices. 1) Replace the original PCB. 2) Turn off power to boiler 3) Take remote unit off the wall and remove batteries. 4) Take unit to the receiver at the boiler 5) Power up boiler 6) Replace batteries in remote (new ones preffered) Units should now pair and...

    I am not a plumber for a start.....but

That Wickes one should be fine. Can't remeber where I picked mine up from, think it was a rep that gave them to me at some point, but they look pretty much the same. Jon

    I am not a plumber for a start.....but

The demount tool is the only way to remove these properly without cutting the pipe. Used correctly then there shouldn't be any issues with them. Can be a bit fiddly to start but once you get the knack it's easy. Just keep it square when pushing into fitting. Jon

    Screws for steel

Google Tek screws. Decent ones will go through 6mm steel with an impact driver with no pilot needed. Jon

Can I expect different DeWalt tools to use the same battery packs?

Yes, although 1.5ah is quite small and will run down quickly on high-powered jobs. Look at getting your next tools with a 3ah minimum battery or two and you will notice the better run times. Jon

Is PTFE safe on a cooker?

Is anyone still using PTFE anymore? I have rolls of the stuff but never use it. Loctite 55 pretty much every time now. Touch wood I have yet to have a leak or even a weep with it on gas or water. Jon

Ideal Mexico Super CF475 boiler replacement?

Surely you have no choice on the matter and the RGI should be discussing all options and pricing with the landlord? Am I missing something? Jon

    Loose push fit fitting

@unionworkeruk You can also google gorilla glue which does the same thing and is cheaper. I haven't tried these products and the sites are only a guide but that should get you where you need to be. Jon

    Loose push fit fitting

@unionworkeruk Try something like this if you can't solder. It will give you a solid structure while keeping neat lines and will also keep costs way down compared to compression as you can use end feed fittings which are pence each compared to pounds! Jon...
