W/B 26CDI XTRA, Hurrendous noise, air flow fault.

Reconsidering the W/B fixed price repair as I don't believe this to be a "system requires cleansing" type fault. The local engineer said the flue was shot which had led to further corrosion. Lets say to fix this fault the flue and fan need replacing; would this be covered by the fixed...

This is more like a reply I was looking for.... What was the overall price if you don't mind me asking?

I'll admit I worded that badly, what I should of said was; when thinking about the overall cost of a service one doesn't care about what the guy has to do to maintain their business, one thinks about the cost. We don't pay Ford twice as much as they sell their car for just because of what...

Look I understand it's a skilled job that requires expensive certs but it sounds like you're running your own business to be swamped in that much paperwork which isn't my problem.

Was given a rough estimate of 2k. Thought it sounded a little steep. Just been looking at suitable replacements and prices online and the 25si is ~ £870 including flue, VAT and delivery; would my current programmable digistat work or would it need a new one? Do they not come with any form of...

Local engineer's (W/B accredited installer) verdict; "lots of problems, not worth throwing hundreds at, need a new one."

Yes the boiler video is not mine; it was the only one I found that sounded like the same noise, albeit quieter and not constant. When you say a ****ter of a job it sounds expensive.

Because I expected them to be overpriced, nothing to lose from giving them a call I suppose.

From W/B online T+C's..... In the event that the fault is not product related, or alternatively if the fault is due to an installation error or because the system requires cleansing, then our engineer will advise you of this on the day and we reserve the right to charge an inspection fee...

Called W/B in hopes they'd put it onto a service plan but it's too old. They do a fixed rate repair for £250, would I do better just getting in a local engineer?

After a little search it seems this is normal for the trap to remain partially filled to prevent fumes escaping via the condensate drain instead of the flue. As I cannot get it to fire up; I'm guessing a (non-power) flush wouldn't help much as it's recommended to be ran with the CH on?

Thanks for your swift response Tony. She had a bit of falling out with BG after the last engineer visit, he was cursing and moaning a lot about having to work on it and trying to convince her she needed a new one. There was also an issue with pricing but I wont go into that here. Though we...

Hi, My mother has the above boiler which was installed in 2000 and serviced up until last year by British Gas. Sod's law it started misbehaving just as she came out of homecare or w/e they call. No matter CH or DHW it would struggle to heat up from cold; making slight booming ignitions...
