    Opinions on re-felting job

Others will comment on things they are more expert than me but the new felt should extend under the roof slates to give a minimum equivalent 150mm high upstand

    Lead code and width.

We always use 300mm for top edge abutments and TBH for the cost of the extra 60mm (about £3.50 per m extra) you may as well go with the wider

    roofer or builder?

Is it a raised party wall? By that I mean one that penetrates the roof covering . Reason for asking is that we had an issue on a job we did some years ago that had the same sort of problem which we tracked to the party wall on the neighbouring side being shot to hell and acting as a sponge

    roofer or builder?

Either or really but it may not be the flashing, it could be a porous brickwork issue

New Flat roof - Single Ply membrane or Zinc/lead

I'm sure Hardmetalking will be commenting soon being the resident zinc man but no vent required AFAIK

Is there ever a charge for calling out a roofer to quote for

Believe me It's not quoting private customers that costs money (so no charge ever with us), it's the main contractors / big builders that should be charged considering the amount of time it takes to quote some bloody jobs with little hope of getting a sniff of work.

    rubber instead of felt

We use rubber with PVC trims and have no issues with it. It can ripple if you're not careful, the product we use, Rubberall, comes in two thicknesses, the thicker one is a bit easier to lay in that respect. We always say that if it can be used as a pond liner and be watertight, a roof is not...

Think I know the answer to this but wanted to check....

Woody throws a curveball lol Yes, we've done that with slates before so good option

Think I know the answer to this but wanted to check....

Yup, way too low. Min pitch (assuming something like a Grovebury) is 17.5 with 100m headlap or 22.5 with 75mm headlap

    warm flat roof

This link shows the tube washers http://www.fixfast.co/fastener-systems/fr_globaltubewashers.php though if you are needing to fix OSB then the tube washers won't really be any help and the fixings for the OSB will of course hold down the insulation anyway

How will they finish these type of tiles ?

Second what noseall says. Do a search on your local council's website for the planning application where you should be able to download the documents including plans for the work to see what was submitted, you should find that the work should halt at the boundary line, if it doesn't the...

    warm flat roof

You can leave the existing as a VCL as long as it is in good order though considering you have cracks and how cheap polythene VCL is you may as well use it too (loose laid) and fix the insulation down with thermally broken fixings (plastic tube washers) and glue the EPDM over the top. you don't...

    flat roof replacement cost

The major thing to remember when doing the GRP is to take care with the adding of the catalyst getting the correct amount depending on ambient temps

    Clay roof tile advice

The reason why the Bridgewater is more expensive is that it is a tile created for a specific market in Somerset and Dorest to match a 50 year old tile produced by a manufacturer who no longer exists, it is has a tapered roll which adds to the manufacturing costs

    flat roof replacement cost

Get three quotes from local contractors and that will tell you, you may find that 2 are similar and 1 is way more expensive or way cheaper, the 2 that are similar will be the going rate

    Clay roof tile advice

Without knowing what the £3 tile was couldn't tell you the difference, £3 is hellishly expensive for a tile TBH. It may be worth looking at CDN (AKA Cortrai or Monopole) tiles, they aren't too expensive. If budget looks tight the Redland Landmark tiles may be worth a look also as they are...

what tiles for victorian bay roof?

On that size roof there won't be too much difference between a single camber machine made clay plain tiles and a concrete one, the only sticking point may be the baby ridge.

what tiles for victorian bay roof?

Yes plain tiles are available in 02 Brown, it's just a colour designation for Granular Brown tiles. I see cement hips quite regularly but they will fail at some point, a baby ridge is a much better option (making sure baby hips irons are also used) and will look a whole lot better

what tiles for victorian bay roof?

I hope you don'e really mean `cement' ridges. Baby ridge would be the best option normally on a small bay roof The tiles (assuming 35 degree pitch or over) best to be plain tiles, colour is whatever you want and what you want to match, there is a range but generally red, brown or grey...
