    Vaillant VCW GB 242E

Definitely check what GasGuru says. My Vailliant VUW242 would not fire up occasionally for the hot water, and it just turned out to be sticking microswitch which I cleaned and has now been working fine for four years! The best bit is it is easy to see if this is operating so you can check this...

ford escort solenoid / starter motor problems

The solenoid is an electrically operated switch which closes when connected to another electrical source. The reason for this is that the high current draw of the starter motor requires large cables which you do not want running up to the ignition switch (which would also be required to be...

    Combi Boiler Draining

Thanks Chris - PRV does work. Not sure if this is one of the standard 'service' checks. Would hope so, the amount some people want to charge!

    Combi Boiler Draining

Thanks folks. The PRV getting jammed seems like a sensible reason not to recommend using this as the drain. Just checked the system again and found whe drain valve on one of the radiators - thankfully close to the outside drain!

    Combi Boiler Draining

I want to drain my Combi Boiler system, but it says in the instructions not to use the pressure relief valve screw. However, this seems to be the only drain in the whole system. Any ideas why it says I can't drain it through here? The Combi is a Vaillant VUW232 Thanks Jim

MCB Wiring holes not lining up

Thanks y'all. I guess I know not to buy VOLEX in the future! CU box is MK also - although I am not so bothered with that interchangeability as the CU mounting bar is to DIN standard - I just thought this might cover all the other useful aspects of the component design! Some of the other...

MCB Wiring holes not lining up

Thanks John - I would accept that if it were just the MK incomer and VOLEX MCBs which didn't line up, but surely the VOLEX RCD and MCBs should - shouldn't they?

MCB Wiring holes not lining up

Hi - I have just purchased components to wire in a consumer unit in place of my old fuse box (ie CU box, 100A incomer switch, 80A RCD and 4xMCBs). However on 'dry' assembly, it seems that the wiring/busbar connection holes on the MCBs do not line up with the with the incomer or the RCD. The...
